if you ban menu stepping, you have to ban the player from ever moving and opening the menu at the same time, and if the player does that once, even by accident, the run is disqualified. it's easier to just allow it, and it's more of an exploit than a bug anyways. the main point of glitchless is just not doing the big game-breaking stuff.

when monsters drop artifacts, it's added to your item count. so, for example, if a disciple drops a tome, you get +1 item but the max items (26) stays the same.

speedruns are typically timed from game start to final cutscene trigger. game start: 0:07, final cutscene: 16:28. this is done by almost all other speedrunners as well.

it's due to the party order. even though it looks like we only have 4 party members (chaz, rune, demi, rika), we actually have 5. in between rune and demi theres a glitched party member with an ID number of 255. that glitched party member screws everything up with demi and rika because when the game is looking at the party and it sees ID 255, it assumes there are no more party members after that and stops checking, ignoring demi and rika.

You ever think about speedruns from the character's perspective? Like the quiet kid up and decided he's going to stop the demons pouring out of the castle that popped into existence, armed with only a hunting knife and his clothes. Once inside, rather than using any of the enchanted weapons laying around, he runs around punching stuff, dropping axes for no apparent reason, taking rings on and off, and debating the merits of two identical short bows. The latter two eccentricities make him unstoppable somehow.

Just beated Phantasy Star 2 last month And i have to say..... i prefer Phantasy Star 4 honestly for the Original 4 series It reminds me a lot more to Final Fantasy 5 and Chrono Trigger Not saying Phantasy Star 2 was not WAY ahead of its time, its just, the game is pretty messy if you ask me 3/10 The game has good theme for its time but the gameplay did not age well and party member interaction is ???

I swear instead of doing puzzles like Myst 3&4, you spend more time listening to what the characters are saying which is boring and not much at all. What happened to Myst? The first 3 were amazing then 4 was only ok, and 5 is shit.

the part with the fireflies is why I'll never try beating this game again. It took me so many tries. So much falling into the water and having to redo it all. I can't go through that pain again.

Each time you pause, the background still moves. How did you find that pause buffing shortcut?

"floor drilling" was a known strat, but was considered TAS only because it requires you to turn back and forth extremely fast. i just tried to see if i could pull it off in real time by pause buffering. i wasn't sure if it would be faster considering all the pausing, but when i timed it out, it was faster by over a minute or something.
