Just in case anyone else has the same issue I had. I had previously switched bloom off in the project settings, which prevented this effect from having the colored glow.

Does using a baked material make it more optimized than using a fluid? I'm assuming it's much more performance.

Yes, that's exactly what we do. We simply bake a texture in the fluid, and then use this texture to create materials!
