My 450X gets stuck all the time under my apple trees (this is what brought me to your video). To be fair my trees are much larger than the one you show and grow pretty large apples. This is literally forcing me to keep the mower at bay before collecting them.

@Gerren

The only exception would be island flower beds where there is no vertical obstacle but here you come out from the boundary with the guide wire, around the flower bed and then when you return to the boundary place both cables (the one coming out to the boundary and the one returning) together. By placing cables together this cancels out the signal if that makes sense

Thanks! Very clear. Can you share you experience with twigs and leaves. I love the look of my lawn after I mow with a ride on and a catcher. Looking at your video it seems the mower will just mow on top of them… do you have to take care of leaves and twigs separately? My yard has a lot of trees so leaves and twigs are all the time making the lawn look untidy… thanks!!

If you live in the UK and there's even the slightest chance of someone in the public seeing that mower - it will be stolen. My advice is to hire a private security guard to walk round with it. If you live in Japan you'll be fine though.

Plenty of these roaming lawns freely in Europe however I too have concern for if I was to leave one in my Australian backyard. Seems the jump from the 310 to 405X for the GPS and alarm is an expensive but essential upgrade.

This is one of the stupidest ideas I've seen in a long time. Random mowing, stupid, how long does it take before all the lawn is cut? Maybe a 24/7 for a month.

For anyone who just bought a Husqvarna automower be aware that the cutting height adjustment does not show up for the first two weeks in the app or on the mower's menu (as of April 26 2022 anyway). Husqvarna states this is to let the boundary wire lay down - it forces the mower cutting height to max for the first two weeks.

Thank you for this excellent video. As a maybe adopter I had no real idea even what questions to ask. I had not thought about leaves or cat and dog poo so your observations are much appreciated. It was also very useful to actually see the beast in action. The manufacturers seem to ignore this but it does show why some of the planning requirements are needed. ............John

My 435 AWD has been in repair shop for 3 months now. I am paying monthly payments on my automower on top of monthly payments to a local lawn service. The company is completely unresponsive and unsympathetic to my situation. How long is too long for a repair? This was a known factory defect. European customers were compensated with cash payments. If this were a new car purchase the dealer would provide a loaner. I don’t understand how husqvarna can stand by these business practices. DO NOT BUY AN AUTOMOWER

Have you heard of any problems with them? Have a 450X. It's over 2 yes old and recently stopped a few times in middle of lawn as it was out of battery. I opened it and saw that a connection from the battery to the motherboard is fried. Going into dealer tomorrow. I also have had to have the power pack replaced as it kept disconnecting the power.. apparently some of them are faulty.

Hi, No, the only issue I've had recently are the wheel motors needed replacing but that is after 7000 hours. My mower is now over 4 years old so I wonder if they have a quality control issue with some later models?

If you spray silicone onto the bottom of a CLEAN, DRY mower, you’ll find little or no debris will stick. A single application in the spring keeps my Ego mower clean all season long.

*Keep in mind that you will still need to edge your lawn🌼 **allabout.wiki/Automower** and do some minor cutting with a conventional mower. I'm guessing you will cut your lawn time down by about 2/3's or more.*

*We've had two instances where the mower went outside the boundary wire into a pine straw bed that has been "looped" out of the cutting area🌼 **allabout.wiki/Automower** When that happens the mower stops running. That area of the yard is a small passage way on a slope. I set the machine to run 12" over the boundary wire instead of 14" and it has not gotten stuck again. Shorten up the "over wire" distance a little gives the machine a bit more room to maneuver. If it happens again I will move the boundary wire back a little from the bed.*

Thanks for the video. How long does it take to mow your lawn (how big is it too) please, and how often does it cut each week in the growing season? Do you ever run it at night?
@Gerren
@Gerren 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the lawn is about 80m by 40m. At the start of the season it normally takes the Automower a couple of days to get the lawn down to the fully finished state. Normally I have it running about 3-4 days a week for about 9 hours although it does have a weather timer and will reduce the hours it cuts when the weather is hot and the grass is not growing. I do tend to run the mower at night especially when the children are at home and playing in the garden. I have a GPS unit installed on the Automower (I believe this is now standard on many models) which allows me to change the schedule of when it runs on an iPhone app and it will also notify me of any errors.

I have had 3 of these running for 4 years now.....and my final conclusion would be.....well difficult but counting in Purchase, yearly bringing it into the shop for refurbishing and maintenance , blades, electricity etc.....in final its cheaper to get a professional gardener to mow my lawn every week ......i almost fell over after this conclusion !! Keep in mind that in these 4 years the batteries had to be replaced/wheels/ drive and one printboard..... however now there going into there 5th year and well they are getting to there final ....too much braking making not worth to keep throwing money @ them... so now Husqvarna says its time to buy new ones .....3X3000 euro is another 9000 euro.....AGAIN ...so my local gardener is asking 120 euro to do my garden (grass) if he comes 4X a month for 5 months (Belgium) and 2 months 2x that makes 2880 € for one year ....the rest of the year i can use my own tractor to clean up the garden (leaves etc) so lets say 3000€ for a Professional to do the grass every year.... counting everything its cheaper to let a professional do the job and i dont have to clean the robots , replace blades and no yearly maintenance ... Oh yeah did i mention every time there is a storm i have to manually clear the lawn of twigs that keep jamming up the mowers... i really liked my mowers giving them names etc... but in all honesty .....no the cheapest sollution.

How do you deal with the mower crossing over loose chipping pathways. Mine is getting stuck on the chippings path which it has to cross to get to the grass either side. I'm thinking of removing the chippings, putting down concrete and placing the chipping back into the concrete so they set in it? Anyone have similar situation?

Good video, thanks - just a question - does the unit ever go OVER the boundary wire? I ask because I have a natural pond and for obvious reasons I don't want it to go in there. the boundary wire can be a few metres from it but I worry that it can get lost and go over the wire. Is that possible?
@Gerren
@Gerren 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Donna, No the Automower never actually goes over the wire. The front of the unit will go up to it but the front wheels will sit behind the front of the unit and the boundary wire. I know people that have installed them up to river banks, ponds and swimming pools with no issues. One works of advice though is that if the bank to the pond is sloping down towards it then I would place the wire a little further back - the units don't usually slip but I have had mine out when we have had a bad frost overnight and the wheels can then accumulate ice. Alternatively if your pond water level rises and lowers with rainfall also take that into consideration when deciding the boundary wire position.
