Might I inquire was that a subrarito(sp) and if so where one may obtain in order to improve practice? Arigato!
@ChosenSamuraiFilms2 ай бұрын
Yes in the beginning of the video that is indeed a Suburito. It's a much heavy bokken used to build strength and control in the muscles through practicing sword swings/techniques. Just Google search Suburito and there is plenty online to buy. Thank you for watching.

@@ChosenSamuraiFilmsYou’re welcome.👏👍 And that’s a real nice set of swords you have. The short sword looks like a short katana. I’ve read before that while most samurai usually had a one-handed wakizashi for their short sword, there were some who had a short katana alongside their long katana instead. Especially when wearing armor for the battlefields.
@ChosenSamuraiFilms2 ай бұрын
@Hermit_Ronin Yes Samurai did use different length swords on the battlefield compared to the katana and wakizashi. To answer your question I'm using a Daisho set which is a katana/ wakizashi set. They are very nice swords thank you.
@Hermit_Ronin2 ай бұрын
@@ChosenSamuraiFilms You’re welcome.👍 Have you ever practiced techniques with a nodachi before, too? That sword is like a longer, heavier version of the katana with a blade length around 50 inches. Historically it was usually for battlefield use.

I practice this every day. It gives me peace of mind and spirit. I use breathing types. Koto songs for calm breathing and slow moves then taiko drums for heavy breathing and faster moves.

@houssammuriby7031 Hi again, thank you for your comment. Sorry I didn't respond to a few of your last questions on the other video short. I went back to it and for some reason our conversation disappeared and I didn't delete anything not sure what happened. To answer this question. All styles forms of aikido or martial arts can be connected directly or indirectly to each other but I didn't train directly under the Aikikai my father had a martial Arts dojo growing up and he taught Aikido but I've learned various martial Arts over the years of my training.

@@ChosenSamuraiFilms Hi, Your most welcome, don't worry about it 😀 I see ok, so you have been around the Martial arts and your dad tought Aikido. Of course all martial arts connect. Your like me I'm into the Japanese sword arts and alike. Do you train officially in general, it shows that you have been training all these years. From the time I've been following you you have improved a whole lot. In tameshigiri from the old videos you are amazing God Bless! I am looking forward in seeing your new cutting videos 😀 I hope we remain intouch and train together some day.

I'll never understand how or why a Samurai would carry two swords. I mean okay I get the wakizashi indoors thing. But even just a katana on the belt is awkward and unwieldy. Imagine having the extra weight of yet ANOTHER sword on the same side, not to mention them rubbing or clanking together. Then if you have to use your katana you have this useless waki getting in your way slowing you down and restricting your movement.
@ChosenSamuraiFilms4 ай бұрын
Here's some reasons the Samurai carried the Katana and wakizashi (Daisho) of Japanese Swords (nihonto) The samurai were the only class allowed to carry two swords - a symbol of their high status. Different styles were popular at different times, but during the Edo period (1600-1868) the long katana sword and shorter companion sword known as a wakizashi were most commonly worn. Also As a male member of this class, you were forced to carry two swords, and only samurai were allowed to carry long swords. This was how you manifested your position in society. The sword was the object that most clearly showed who the samurai was - a warrior and a part of society's elite, and The Symbolic Meaning of Daishō The katana is considered the soul of the samurai, while the wakizashi represents their honor and loyalty. Together, these two swords embody the balance between power and control, crucial for an accomplished warrior. Thank you for watching.

Nice. You’re learning~ I love to see it and I love to see people working on compound movements! The only thing I’d have to say is make sure to keep the back of the blade on the sheath as much as possible, before you draw. The second before the sword is out fully is when you can change direction/turn the saya. helps not destroying your sheath or your hand when messing up with shinken, also just makes for a faster and more versatile movement. Oh and It’s called sayabiki~ have fun have fun~ also I can tell you take a lot of experience from iai 100%.
