This is an interesting question. I think mine could have gone on its side like a book, but it requires some work and I was focused on getting this video. The bags like books overhead bins vary a great deal and while I love the idea, they tend to swing down too low and hit people on the head and do require a bit more work. So my impression is this was a design intended to find some happy medium. Are you a fan of the bigger bins or a bit more old school?

@@OmarAlohaDude I love the new bins. I’ve got a pretty standard sized roll-aboard and it fits perfectly on its side, like a book. I’ve even boarded at the end, knowing I’d have to check the bag on a plane with old bins, but there was plenty of space left me on those flights. The key is proper storage of the bags in the bins. Not everyone is used to it, but more and more signage is helping to build the habit.
