Very interesting. Rode it in 1990, shortly after it opened, and they said to come back after the park had closed as they were looking for volunteers to add weight for testing. So we went back and had a dozen or so rides with lots of official looking men in suits holding clipboards and stopwatches. Think they were testing for 3 train operation. But I guess it wasn't going well as the suits were having heated discussions and nobody looked happy. I was glad to get out of there, it was a bad atmosphere!

Oh dear! Great to be part of that in the early days though!
@robwarner93717 сағат бұрын
Erm, the old trains *did* have the wheel at the bottom to stop them swinging. It was exactly the same concept with the original bat cars. Did the guide really say that the original cars didn’t swing? 😱
@GlenFair7 сағат бұрын
They certainly did swing and they did have the wheel at the bottom
@UKThemeParksСағат бұрын
Agreed they did indeed have guide wheels, the confusion seemed to come on the changing of the supports during the Vekoma upgrades, which they thought was for the larger guide wheels, my understanding was it's the Clearence envelope. To be fair this aside they were excellent, with a lot to remember as they do all of the VIP tours!

I remember watching a tour from 2010 the video is still on KZbin and in the tunnel they had strobe lights cashiers inside and screeching bat sound effects sad to see that they got removed and it would be cool if the moved the rodeo statue closer so you could actually notice it and take in the detail before you go up the lift hill Great video

Its a shame the speakers are used anymore for more than announcements in the tunnel, or indeed chasing strobe lights. They were really cool!

Was at the park Monday with my 4yr old. It was busy seeing as school trips had decended but we still managed every ride in Thomas land + 11 other rides around the park! I only live on the other side of Brum (30-40 mins away) so been thinking about grabbing a season pass next year!!

We’ve just been at the park for the last 2 days (Tuesday and Wednesday) and found it to be a very nice park. We mostly stayed in Thomas Land as my youngest is under 1m tall and couldn’t do any of the ‘family rides’ except the Viking horsey ride. Overall enjoyed the park, we stayed in the hotel and my goodness that was a mistake, won’t be staying there again!

@@UKThemeParks I wouldn’t recommend you do either! The beds were so uncomfortable hardly slept at all and unfortunately the manager of the restaurant (Matt) was so unprofessional we ended up leaving and going to a Beefeater down the road.

Once the holidays actually start they will always be much the same. All the parks do say though that Sundays are quieter than you think. Check the app everyday and make some notes on the queues (not school week this week/Mon/Tues next! It usually follows a pattern

I went to this event and I thought it was fantastic! Scariest mazes I’ve ever been in! My favourite maze was vita nova. That maze really reminded me of survival games at Thorpe park fright nights. It also reminded me of The Asylum and Containment that were also at fright nights. I never did those mazes but I’ve heard about what happens in them. I think vita nova was one of the most fun scare mazes I’ve ever done and I think it’s my 3rd favourite scare maze I’ve ever done followed by Survival Games as my 2nd favourite ever and Walsall Scare Maze Christmassacre 2022 as my favourite maze ever. X4:Blackout was probably the scariest and The Core was the most unique.

Anyone else remember little boats (maybe the ones approx 3 mins into the video) but I remember them being in the lake itself and there was a big green octopus, you’d inevitably get your boat stuck on a tentacle for half your time 😅 I’m certain it was Thorpe Park, as remember the dome. I’m a 1977 baby and I recall being quite young.
