💭 You paid for custom upgrades & didn't get a better steel in the blade ??!? I guess dude wants to just look at the pretty knife & not use it. (420hc dulls easy just cutting tomatoes & cardboard boxes!)
@Warthogg13 күн бұрын
Yes, that's a show knife, I have 3 others that I use, 2 with S30V plus you can't get the mirror polish option with the higher grade steels.

@Warthogg1 Good to hear!! It aint the same without you on here. Thoughts and prayers, mate. I've been researching Barlows. I picked up a George Furness and Sons, and it kicked it all off. It's definitely the working class hero of the knife world. I think it may have been the birth of sawcut bone? Just a theory. I think some of the bigger/prestigious Sheffield companies may have given the pattern a swerve until later in history. Looking forward to the return!

Love the Browning USA knives. Queen cut co. did such a great job on them. I feel like they fly under the radar with collectors, but I have a few and they are really great knives. I think the build quality is as good as the Winchesters , Queen made. Thanks for sharing

Im sure this works, but it sounds a bit sketchy introducing enough heat that you can bend it. Tempering is done as low as 150C sometimes, it doesnt need to be visibly hot to start hardening. Especially the tip and edge that has very little thermal mass. The typical method afaik is to use a copper hammer and lightly tap it straight against a tree stump, ref Murray Carter. I do think this is a tool to have that could get you out of a pinch, but I personally would not do this to any expensive knives.
@Warthogg116 күн бұрын
I agree, I haven't watched this in a while - not sure if I explained it being just one method other than trying to straighten a blade cold by tapping it or using plyers - which usually ends up breaking the tip. Yes, wouldn't use this method for expensive knives or powdered steel alloys. It will harden the steel noticeably. However, the slipjoints (1095) that I have fixed by heat straightening are still going strong.👍 Thanks for your input brother 🙏🏼
@kvernesdotten16 күн бұрын
@@Warthogg1 Oh I can imagine it works for them, and yeah pliers in general is just asking to snap blades haha Oh well im one of those who thinks there is no right or wrong, or just 1 way to do things. Everything has a place and a purpose as long as one knows what you are trying to achieve and the consequences :D

Beautiful Case Knives. Dig that Shark. The Buck 110s and others in that style are monsters with the massive Brass Bolsters. Back in the Day just months after Buck first introduced the 110 . PUMA came out with a couple very similar 110 & 112 style hunters. They’re slightly slimmer profile and a tad lighter. They were probably the first models to emulate the Buck. Thanks for sharing. Best! Dwayne

The Fairbairn sykes blade WAS designed to be sharpened. Fairbairn specifically thought that out and wanted the blades sharpenable. Everyone always misconstrued that a thrust weapon cannot be sharp. And why not? Where did that line of thinking come from and why would you waste a perfectly good cutting surface?

Nice. I found one at flea market for dirt cheap. Needs cleaning. After some research the 97223 isn’t the model number. It’s actually one of several the zip codes for the Portland, OR area.

That’s a gorgeous knife brother. Love the quality of the Buck 110 and when they come out of their Custom Shop they somehow manage to step up the quality even higher. Every 110 and 112 is an heirloom quality knife that can be passed down from generation to generation. I’m planning on getting into customizing these knives as a hobby and so that each of my kids and my grandchildren will each have their own original custom done by me that will always remind them of how special they all are to me and how much I love them.

Hey brother, It's not sharpened, but the way it's ground, you could put an edge on it if that's your flavor. I don't have a micrometer, but I just put it up against the edge of a standard dinner knife & It's slightly thinner. God Bless 🙏
