Don't get me wrong, I love thunderstorms and I like to see lightning but this would be too much even for me. How was anyone able to sleep through this? I live in Philadelphia and I have never seen a thunderstorm like that before. All I can say is that it must have been very hot and humid in Minneapolis that day. I am so glad that wasn't there at that time. I wouldn't gotten any sleep whatsoever. However, I would probably be watching the storm through my bedroom window. Probably every single window in the area was shaking with all that thunder.

the same day and later on, a major derecho developed in Iowa and swept through the entire state with winds up to 100 mph. the conditions were just right for the storm I recorded and the horrindous wind storm that devastated Iowa.

My guess this blew out many electronic devices that were connected to breaker boxes not grounded properly with a solid earth ground with very large gauge wire.

I just happened to come across your Video. I have been a life long resident of Clinton, born in 1958. (66 now), and I went to Matthews South School in the South end of town. (also no longer there now) about 3 months ago, my wife got me a DJI Drone for my birthday and I've been making some videos from around Clinton, Bridgeton etc. and put them on a KZbin Channel I made. I thought you might like seeing some of the area again being you grew up here many years ago. If we have another windstorm, that will make 4 that have hit the cities this year. I lost power for the last storm, I'd rather not go through that again, lol. Thanks for watching.

@@pinkmints was that the Thursday 8/29 storm? I did not get to the lake, but I did make some video recordings at my place just east of the lake, I'll have to see if I have anything that looks like a funnel in my videos.

Great video! I just rode out these storms in St. Louis Park last night. I filmed the first one but the second snuck up on me in the night. I do think the second one was stronger, at least in SLP. A decently big popple tree went down in my backyard. By the way, ever since I watched the “Intense Midnight Storm” video you uploaded quite a few years ago, I always associate “Rebel Yell” with severe thunderstorms 😂

The storms were awesome. I get up early in the morning for work and I happened to wake up in time to see the last storm and it was a dozzy!! Yes, Rebel Yell!!

A Wrangler got stuck on that same hill. They were both Willy's. I guess you didn't watch the whole video, because there was a Rubicon Gladiator that made it over easily.

I remember this storm. That midnight tornado was not fun. Especially when a branch a foot in diameter broke off our neighbors tree and fell in my yard narrowly missing the house

I live in Iroquois, SD, a small town about 70 miles from the Minnesota border. We had 70 to 90 mph winds for nearly an hour that day. Great video !!!!!

We very rarely get storms as bad as that in the UK but we did get a similar one to this with almost continuous lightning and thunder back in the early 90s though a long long time ago, but that one was tame though compared to this storm, I've certainly never experienced a thunderstorm as bad as the one on this video but what a great storm and thank you for the slo mo bits as well its fascinating to see how fork lightning goes to the ground from the cloud but it is such a quick process only way we can truly see what is happening is by slowing it down, thank you for sharing this video.

these rivers were exceptionally high during the spring snow melt which also included a lot of heavy rains that fell too.
