Can't understand why we have catch and release yet Spain French boats can take them, we are out of the EU now so not bound by their quotas. Our politicians don't do enough for our fishermen.
@sussexangling Жыл бұрын
Bluefin tuna are the most heavily quota’d fish in the planet. Each country has a specific amount it can catch and the French and Spanish boats have been harvesting these fish for decades. The stocks of tuna have recovered dramatically in the last 15 years and are now off the endangered list. The UK bow has a 39 tonne quota a small amount of which is now available to commercial fishers in a pilot fishery but so far not been getting around £8 -£10 a kilo dockside fir these fish because there is no developed market. We’re hoping that next year we will have a fully open recreational fishery..watch this space.

Awsome watch ! What I've taken from this is my hook point is going to be at the ass end off my bait ! And I'm also thinking a wider gaped hook and as sharp as I can get ! I'm thinking the inside off a plaice mouth is way more boney than I expected so getting hook holds is harder !!

Bronze and aluminum do not play well together. Stainless steel would have been better but they make transducers out of a hard rubber/plastic type material that is appropriate for aluminum. You are going to have a massive corrosion problem due to electrolysis between bronze and aluminum. I have seem aluminum corroded to a point by bronze that a hole developed in the hull where transducer was installed causing the boat to sink.

Excellent! I used to fish the Adur for mullet using 4 lb line and a centrepin. Using a bubble float and floating crust on size 8 hook. Landed a few and lost plenty. Very hard to keep hooked. Never saw one that size though! ☺☺

All this rubbish is just to line the pockets of government . Not every angler can afford to pay the very high boat prices they charge , so basically we are being told if we can't afford it we are not permitted to fish for them ,. Since when was fishing just for the rich and famous and to line government pockets

Ah yes I remember the Summer of 1976 when shoals at Shoreham harbour were so thick it was like a black mass in the water (along with whitebait ) they were 3" long and you couldn't get a bait past them. 😂😂😂

It's a shocking conversion rate from fish that show interest to fish that are caught! Compare it with videos of carp taking baits off method feeders, where the rate is close to 100%. Chuck all the booms and beads in the bin and use heavy leads, short hooklengths and small barbless hooks!
@sussexangling2 жыл бұрын
You're probably right - although since we sometimes catch over 50 in a session the method seems to work. The spreader probably doesn't help either but it beats a single hook rig most of the time. We use size 1 hooks. Also they like the beads and have often been seen to attack those instead of the bait. A heavier lead takes the sport away, and sometimes we'll go even lighter than 4oz - down to 2 if the tide allows. Always fun to experiment.

Excellent, have been tempted by the water wolf but been put off by comments about water ingress and poor customer relations. Might have another look. Could you perhaps rig a vane with jubilee clips onto the bo to act as a rudder to try and keep it more stable? Bet you hate comments suggesting stuff when you've made all the hard effort to get the recording, sorry about that. Enjoyed it very much, so many times you think there's nothing underneath you. This is the only way to know.

I don't believe in this catch and release nonsense, especially if there is some level of mortality as a result of it. If I have a license to go fishing which is required by law in some countries, I'm not fishing for sport or any kind of recreational purpose, I'm not fishing to sell for profit, I'm fishing for none other than the dinning table. And what's more, I'm not fussy as to the kind of fish either, I'll will cook and eat what ever is edible. And if it happens to be a very large fish, I'll either store some of it in the freezer or share with others.
@andrewshackleton37002 жыл бұрын
And that my friend is why stocks are depleted, that attitude is the reason why it is like it is.
@unhooked252 жыл бұрын
@@andrewshackleton3700 Nonsense that is not the reason why stocks are depleted it's because of commercial fishing or catching large numbers for sale, as I clearly indicated, you're trying to tell me someone who goes out and catches one or two for his dining table is the reason stocks are depleted? Don't give me that Bullshit! You'll never sell me on that one.
