Great video, you really helped with the dismantling of the release lever. Didn't want to swap the pieces over so drilled a couple of small holes either side of the broken piece and threaded it all together with a small cable tie. Removing the orange flap to drill 1 of the holes was the fiddliest part.

This is the method I used for removing the pin. I used a thin set of pincer pliers and put one handle through the gap where the red mechanism slides in. Get the pliers on the end of the pin and squeeze gently. This should push the plastic forward slightly. Then you will need something metal and strong like a trim removal tool or possibly a flat screwdriver. Place this above middle of the pin that is exposed, pushing the plastic towards the side where the torx bolts screw in. Use the pliers for extra leverage. As you move along keep adjusting the pliers and gradually apply more pressure. I have read that apparently it is beneficial to take the pins out completely and swap with a smaller nut and bolt. This apparently relieves some of the pressure that causes the handles to snap in the first place, will also make for easier removal when they inevitably do snap again.

Absolutely awesome, I have no experience of the damn seats repairs, but I watched what you did to get the seat down, and it took me about 1 1/2 minutes, so we can now use the Fiesta as planned, thank you. Brilliant. Rob

Thanks so much!! Took me a while to manually release the catch, I couldn't do it with my fingers and thought the whole mechanism was broken. As a last resort I used a pair of pliers to gently pull upwards and it released - great!

This word like a dream for me. However you do need a TX50 star drive to remove the two bolts holding each unit. TX50 are inexpensivce (£5.00) and can purchased at Halfords in the UK
