So many words of wisdom, timeless and extremely valuable. For example qualitative vs quantitative insights, beware of averages, considering whether you are asking the right questions as well as the right people. I guess Luke got some background in statistics. Great advice, this video and the delivery is an all time classic. 🙏🏻

What a guy! The intended value of the presentation is definitely there, but if I saw Mo' Money Mo' Problems and his explanation for the image of the human image choice as a complex organism I don't know I could keep a quiet composure. Those comedy bombs are 10/10 execution. Quite remarkable for him to make the effort to teach a highly thought-out system to the community too. Excellent presentation and fantastic sense of humor!

A share of useful references but explanations not always clear. Speaker tends to want to make a more emotional than mental connection with her audience.

Very informative and inspiring about Grid Layouts in general. Wish that some of the Grid Code were more detailed.Approaches Web Design from a Graphic Design point of view. Important. Could have used a look at the CSS for Grids and Flexbox.

A good overview, but not geared to the Beginner to Flex and Grid. Lost me at the 45 minute mark, and really lost me when the SASS Mixins and CSS Code were presented. How can you include %, ems and px in the same Layout? I need a simpler lesson which teaches Step By Step how to Code CSS in Grid and Flexbox.

Too much use of SASS and other advanced CSS for a beginner to understand. Too little Basic explanations of Flex and Grid. Looking for a more Step By Step explanation of the confusing Grid CSS nomenclature.

13:49 - Hard disagree on the FLASH "not a good idea at all". Flash/AS3 was not restricted to a frame, full screen flash sites were way ahead of their time in terms of design and interaction compared to the dark ages that followed. It could talk to the surrounding HTML and it was already responsive and vector based. "Web stuff" is whatever we want it to be...hardcore bias there.
@SerenityReceiver

I strated in the 90ies with pure txt/html, Flash/AS3 was the height of design/interaction that yet is still unreached with modern approaches. Instead it got extremely convoluted and splintered, tons of new job descriptions, a daily cahanging landscape, horrendous to keep up with. Not fun anymore.

Atomic Design's ideas are nothing new. Designers have been using Design Systems (reusable components and patterns) from the very beginning with Photoshop. Adobe Flash also used graphic "components". We just didn't call it Design Systems back then. Nowadays it's easier to create a Design System with the cloud-based ability in Adobe XD. I think Brad is a cool guy, but he only highlighted the idea of the obvious.

I think that Jen is brilliantly trying to inject into everyone's minds the conceptions of thinking out of the box, figuring out the methods of outdoing the best out of the platforms or mediums we design for or work with and yet, neither did the person responsible for exporting this valuable lecture into a video for KZbin nor did that other person accountable for uploading and sharing this video to KZbin, considered to utilise the tools, beyond ordinary, that this platform offers its users to publish and share their content in a respectable quality at the most suitable format. I'm not trying to be that bummer who points out all the imperfections, I simply find it slightly amusing, Jen is an inspiring person, advocating for adapting our workflow to achieve the best the platforms we work with provide, but whoever's responsible for producing this video, bearing her words of wisdom, failed to take into practice the very thing she's actually on about...

The "person" responsible for producing this video is not a person, it's an event. An Event Apart, google it. Now, as someone who spent some years producing and delivering live streaming talks and kicking out the on-demand content aftewards (which is what we see here), I'm interested in how you think the producer of this video could've altered it's delivery to take into practice whatt Jen was talking about. Not trolling, truly interested in what you think could've been done. Now, keep in mind, the camera, shoots the stage, the mixer blends in what's on screen, slides, etc... and yeah this is kind of the standard for how a live event is produced. After that, keep in mind, the video is hosted on KZbin, which of course, alreayd has the design frames laid out and the overall content managment system in place to include things like related video's on the right hand column and of course comments in the center under the video. Given that, how would you expect a producer of this content, to act in any different fashion? It's not a web page they designed and put on a web server. So I'm not certain what you feel could've been done to better encompass Jen's vision (of web pages mind you).

Outstanding post! I accept the fact that I am very analytical. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the code in webdesign fascinates me. I also accept the fact that I have almost zero artistic ability. I can't draw a straight line without a ruler. Up to now, I have struggled with webdesign because I can't 'see' the final product. 'Template' websites have been of little use since they pretty much look the same (now I know why). Your presentation has opened my eyes to a new source of visual inspiration. If I can 'see'' it, I can code it. I am looking forward to applying this information in my coming designs. Thank you.

What developers don't understand, it shouldn't be the web developers responsibility to support all the browsers on this planet, but the browser developers. It's also the users responsibility to at least know which browsers are good and which aren't. For example what's the point of using Safar, IE or Samsung Browser? The most useless browsers in existence. Samsung tries to be Apple, Apple wants to do everything themselves not following ANY specifications and become basically the IE of 2020+

Why did Aaron start out by mentioning his pronouns? Unless people are prone to get them wrong, there is really no need. If this was some gender-based conference, why talk about PWAs? (Actually, why talk about PWAs at all when you can talk about real apps?)
