I don't love kata but I know that it is useful for the perfection of the techniques. It isn't simple!

Kata is so boring. I was losing interest in judo due to kata: the straw that broke the camel's back was that there was a misunderstanding with the grading timing (I was 'late') and wasn't allowed to grade the week after. I left ju jitsu due to the same reason: the only 'good' thing about ju jitsu was you learn which attack is better countered with a judo throw and which is better countered with an aikido lock. I enjoy MMA more

@@fransenkata the Ju Jitsu club I trained at was Goshin Ryu Ju Jitsu: it's basically bunkai because ask for a grab or atemi, block it and/or counter throw, and finish up with shime waza or kansetsu waza. I don't like kata because you can teach bunkai without teaching kata. I left primarily because of a misunderstanding of the judo grading timing with one instructor who wasn't even head of the association. With the same association you can go up as many belts as you can in ju jitsu but with judo you are limited to one belt per grading: I was unwilling to wait 6 months for a grading that could've been done there and then. I learned katame no kata but I've forgotten it ages ago because kata is so boring

@@ronki23 Hi Ronki, I used to think like you when I was young: kata isn't really interesting and I didn't see any point in spending time on it. Now, my opinion has changed radically. I find that kata allows you to develop your technique much more, to understand the issues of strength as taught by Jigoro Kano sensei. It's also a way of developing your discipline and self-control, while seeking the right balance with your uke. Practising kata isn't just about passing a grade, it's really about personal development and a facet of judo that is underrated. But I respect your opinion, MMA brings more action and fighting possibilities. It's also clear many judokas study kata just for the exam. Anyway, it's up to each judoka. @fransenkata, I really enjoyed your Kime no kata, the attacks and reactions were realistic, it was great. Thanks for sharing.

Then you are doing it right. Kata is harder than shiai. It's longer and takes more skill and precision.

You are undisciplined, and that is why you "left" for MMA. Don't make excuses, child.

Uke is a bit short on his strike, much easier if it is on target
