Nice. We have 2 wing spinning decoys that sit on poles and go all the time. We've had the old one for years now and it still goes great and its got a remote so when the ducks fly around we can turn it on/off without leaving the maimai. The new one is very similar except new and needs a new battery after only 2 seasons although the wings spin much faster. We just got a decoy similar 2 the one that features at the 2 minute mark. Haven't tried it out yet waiting for a puddle to form somewhere and some spare time.
@FR3WY4 ай бұрын
Awesome, the ability to turn the wings off is key. I think 🤔

Couple of questions do you use and parrie decoys. Do you get any geese coming in . When you look at the pond from maimai I would have put a big group of decoys on the left down by the trees were ducks normally go to sit and hide and just a few small groups spread along the edge to make it more natural might be part of the reason the birds are flaring
@FR3WY4 ай бұрын
Yes, we put out all our parrie decoys, and we only put out geese decoys because there was a small mob floating around, but yes that is what we try and achieve, but we always get carried away I think at 12pm on Saturday most of the robo duck should come in and leave only the ones on timers no just spining the hole time
@brendont10824 ай бұрын
@@FR3WY oh cool was just looking to see if any parrie decoys was looking out for the female. Oh just watch mallards don't really like flying over parries I would but in the right side in that little back water. Separate from mallards as they don't really mix to well. Oh reason I ask about geese is they not using pond then looks random to all of a sudden there's geese there to the ducks coming. Yes totally agree with spinners
@FR3WY4 ай бұрын
@brendont1082 we put our parries on the right because that's where they tend to hang out , and yeah I know but worth the rest lol never shot a goose there but I understand that many of these factors can nbe the reason the ducks flared away 😅
@brendont10824 ай бұрын
@@FR3WY all good just when you where talking about them flaring thought I would give a couple of suggestions to see if that helps you bag a few more and make it better for the kids to get into a few if they follow committing

What do you think of automatic duck feeders
@FR3WY4 ай бұрын
We have one but never used it. I think the concept is great if you have to travel a bit to get to the pond. I wish they made the whole set up with the drum ready to go at an affordable price so you could buy set and feed in 2 hours
@jackpow22604 ай бұрын
The newer motion decoys are great, not a big fan of spinners. The new flocka flickers 2 are much better but don’t self right at all so a pain without waders to put out.
@FR3WY4 ай бұрын
I'll have to check out the flocka flickers. The big thing with old bird is the ability to turn off the spiner once the birds have seen you 😉 or have them on pulse, but some birds are just too smart or know where they are heading already
@jackpow22604 ай бұрын
Higdon now make the flasher splasher and pulsator all built in, pulsators are awesome only external item is the weight no battery box required

what a awesome looking spot ya have there. i wish so much that we could have our stands/huts nice and tidy and well set up like yours but sadly the degenerates ruin it for everyone and steal everything even down to rusty bent nails and then scrap metal the rest of the hut to really rub it in. once my camping kettle was nicked and the following morning i was looking thru my binoculars at the other side to see if anyone catching only to see some asshole using it to boil water for his coffee. that sorting device is cool to btw

Looks like fun. Kids weight belt looks all wrong. Buckle should be in front so clasp can be quickly pulled one handed if need to drop it. Also, looks too loose. If so, when he tips over it can come loose and travel down his back toward neck and head. Nasty whack on back of head results. Don't ask me how I know all about this.
