Good to see them together again.. Trevor horn had the magic sound to this band. This feels like it’s partial live and backing track I mean, where’s the keyboard player?

The world is right again. Oasis are back, pulp is working on a new album, blur is still with us (maybe) and tom meighan from kasabian is about to drop his first solo album.

🥹🥹👏👏👍👍 I think the Duke would like this😊. Tom s voice is superb, beautiful and a true miracle (by the time of this video he had relapsed on substance ab*se, and he still managed to sing like this. Many years later, he is doing better than ever, fortunately . Btw, there is also a cover of this song by Tom and his solo band, I think from 2017, which is also beautiful ❤).

When I was little, I used to watch my mum through the banisters sing and dance along to Kate, the Lionheart years… Ever since, I’ve been a fan and kept all mums vinyl albums. My mum has since lost her eyesight, and I had a small chance to get two tickets to this show on the basis of my mums disability. However, I was away on holiday when the email came through with the offer of the tickets…and as I vowed to not check emails while away, I missed out. It was a very sad day, I would have loved for my mum to have been there, she wouldn’t have seen Kate, but she could have sung along like she did when I watched her through the banisters all those years earlier. I live in hope Kate will play live again one day 😊

This is a little difficult to write, but I have to be honest. Ever since Kate’s stunning appearance on SNL over 40 years ago (Man w/Child in Eyes sitting on Paul Shaffer’s piano, Them Heavy People), I have been captivated by her artistry - much to the puzzlement of just about everyone I know. Despite incredibly long waits and occasional disappointments (Line, Cross, & Curve), I never lost the faith, continuing to watch Tour of Life videos in their varying forms as if each time was the first. I was unable to get to London for the Before the Dawn shows, which has gnawed at me for a decade. I was thrilled to see this video appear on YT, which documents the Ninth Wave portion of the show. Even though it’s obviously an audience recording, it does a decent job of capturing the essence of the performance. Frankly, it lacked coherence and was filled with bizarre distractions that added little to the experience. If anything, the spoken portions/skits seemed meaningless and the various creatures wandering around the stage were just silly. I’ve always given Kate a tremendous amount of scope for her eccentricities, but I really didn’t get what they were hoping to accomplish. HOWEVER, I must admit that the rendition of Morning Fog that closes the set, always one of my favorites, had me weeping. I can only imagine how I would have reacted if I had been there in person. PS - For a closer view of Morning Fog, this is remarkable. She’s still Kate! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqXcZYZtptV0ebMsi=KsiDWts0DSHEsn6N

Great to see them get together for the first time in years here. You kind of knew they wouldn't be playing. But by the end of the year (2004) the guys got back together to perform 3 songs with Ryan Molloy on vocals at the Prince's Trust concert produced by Trevor Horn. Then a one-song performance at Eurovision in 2023 with all five. I think this episode was necessary for those performances to happen.
