Saw his group at a Blues Festival, Santa Cruz, Calif., mid-90s. They headlined. IIRC Coco Montoya, Buddy Guy, Luther Allison played amazing sets. Robben Ford & band came on and played Jazz not a single blues riff. Everyone got up and left. I wonder what the hell he thought he was doing. Oh well great afternoon all-in-all, lol.

My buddy gave me this on dvd years ago when I was really getting into learning blues licks on guitar blah blah. Always thought this was so hard to sit through. He’s very awkward and just kinda creeps me out. But at least he’s willing to teach his ways unlike a lot of artists. Respect!

I saw Robben open up for Chuck Berry at Foothill college in the bay area...he was around my age, he was like 17....Berry gave him a solo and he whipped thru 24 bars in a bluesy rock yet outside sound...Berry got pissed at him... hahahahahahaha...his older brother had a blues band, Mark, I think...they opened for Berry

Great story . Chuck was a character. Robben never ceases to amaze

Older brother is Patrick (drums), Mark (harp, vocals) is younger. Those were the days, seeing them around the Bay Area so regularly.

@@Enrique_Guitar I kind of was off ...was not supposed to be 11 just 3rd so in blues like example not great but the chord did sound cool on its own .... but flipping 3rd to top good on blues stretchy chord but sounds good with the 1/2 step right next to eachother

"My father was a young professional musician" - PAUSE - "for not too long" What a kind soul, the delicacy, the class and elegance he conveys a message is formidable...and he can transfer all that to the music! It's true for me, to be a nice musician you have to be a nice human being first... Love you and your music Robben!

Stunning musician. I'm not so keen on blues, but Robben take it to another level. And I can't forget his jazz record with Joe Diorio or Pop POp POp with Rickie Lee Jones...tremendous solos both electric and acoustic. A real master!!!!

You're looking in the wrong places if you're "not so keen on blues." Blues has been in all modern/contemporary western music for quite some time now. You should know this if you're a musician. Every good musician likes blues.

@@Sledgehammers_Nail Lots of listeners are generally into the Blues, whether they know it or not. Having been a keen Blues fan for half a century, I especially enjoy watching free festival reactions to various genres of music. For multiple decades, Blues based music typically gets the most resounding response from the crowds I’ve witnessed in that kind of setting. 🇨🇦
@fabriziovincitorio9377Ай бұрын
@@Sledgehammers_NailWell, I love blues played by Parker or Coltrane, Scofield or Stern. I love Billie Holiday and Sara Vaughn singing the blues, or John Mayer with Palladino and Steve Jordan. I love blues when the harmonic substitutions on its form become the texture for new ideas. I' m not keen on "classic" blues a la Robert Johnson or Muddy Waters. I know they are great artist, but it's not my favourite style. That's all!!!

I would like to purchase one of your Blues guitar courses, but I have a question before proceeding. To follow his lessons, do you need to buy Guitar Pro, or does he provide videos with tablatures and all the necessary explanations without necessarily having to buy this software? And I would like to ask you which course you recommend me to buy Thank you very much for your reply
