As someone who's gone to Japan a lot of times and is a massive train enthusiast, this was great to watch, and it was fun to get pissed off at some of the rankings, great video haha 👍

There are several etymological mistakes in this video. Okachimachi actually means "Footmen's Town." Back in the shogun's days, the area featured apartments for o-kachi, lower class samurai who formed the shogun's infantry. Mejiro and Mejguro were named not after the birds, but after Mejiro Fudo and Meguro Fudo ("White-Eyed Fudo" and "Black-Eyed Fudo"), temples dedicated to the Buddha Fudo Myojin. Mejiro Fudo has relocated out of the area, but Meguro Fudo is still a popular temple today. Shinjuku is better translated as "New Post Station," with shuku/juku being a government-sanctioned post station built along highways in the shogun era, although it did indeed feature inns and lodges around the station. And yes, it was "new"--in the early 17th century. Harajuku is similarly better rendered "Field Post Station." While Hamamatsucho literally does mean Beach Pine Town, it is very obviously a reference to the central Japanese city of Hamamatsu.

Is there a less gentrified Akihabara offering a similar experience?
@jessejace2 ай бұрын
There are spots in present-day Akiba that still harken back to the way I remember the town, but they're few and far between. I'm not sure if any of Akihabara's equivalents in other Japanese cities have seen the same changes over the years as Akiba has, but I have to assume Akiba saw the worst of it, being the most famous outside Japan.

Most of the stations mentioned are being used as backgrounds in some anime or another, so they're all great in my book. This is the main reason I'm miffed that they just tore down the old Harajuku station. It was dingy, sure, but damn, it had charm!

Hey Jesse. I've a few answers to your rhetorical questions! Yes, canceling from the second Kick from the HP HK target combo is new this patch. Before we had to do something like HP HK OD Divekick off the knee hit, now we have a meterless option. Consensus seems to be that it's optimal in a couple scenarios, but not mandatory until you choose to expand your repertoire (unlike before the patch). You were trying to drive rush (which would be funny to do, and does work), but you can drive impact too! It's a normal cancel, but golly do you have to wait to time it properly. The three big nerfs to be mindful of is 1. after forward throw we have to walk forward further to throw loop, 2. OD hooligan into SA3 had a damage nerf, if you need to do the math for the kill. 3. heavy and OD spin knuckle are much slower trying to get through fireballs, so it's harder to use. (we're sorry akira and kazunoko are so good! though honestly it's probably to save AKI.) I was doing some labbing after talking on reddit, and i found that if you OD Hooligan into Light arrow, you get a safe jump! Might be more of something to use in the corner, but food for thought. Oh, and Raging demon vs SA3. Raging demon seemingly has less invul, it loses even when going second unless they delay it/are slow. caught a video showing that and it was a laugh. Game on, my good man.

So - after riding the Nippori Toneri Liner I have to admit that I don’t understand your hatred towards it. It seems like a nice automated line with very similar rolling stock to the Yurikamome Line, just without the views. Then again I’m just some rubber neck tourist who doesn’t know shit. Could you maybe elaborate on your opinion against the NT liner?

Hey Jesse! Glad i caught you. Just got myself a job so no morning street fighter for me. But since It's on you mind how to drive rush i'll point out the google answer: "When inputting a Dash, the initial forward/back input must be held for no longer than 8 frames, and the neutral time between inputs also has a maximum of 8 frames. This means that the fastest possible forward dash input is Forward - Neutral - Forward (3f total) and the slowest is Forward(8f) - Neutral (8f) - Forward (1F) = (17f total)." If you're holding parry, it's just a matter of being fast and clean. It's back to back forwards. Maybe see if your stick is sliding on your lap/desk more during the one side compared to the other. Is it a wrist roll, or just fingers or an arm pump. Big motions are slower, if i may point that out. I'm seeing a lot of cases where you let go of parry too soon. At the very least you must press it as you press the second Forwards. @55 minutes: Is drive rush faster? No. They're just better at using it right as you wake up. @58:30 You face an ed who is using a safe jump setup. After any of his "Blitz" attacks (the old SF5 1-2-3) he can jump on you, hit anything not invincible and still block anything invincible. You have to wake up and block standing until he starts cycling empty jump options: low attack or throw. then you can attack him, but it's a gamble either way, and the point of what he's doing. Roll the dice kiddo, we're going to vegas! It's 2 or 3 back to back guesses on your part. Sadly, Ed's kit is like Blanka's or Honda's. Without a fireball, we aren't playing half the game. My success (tho limited. I've been sick and not playing) has been blocking/baiting a lot of punches and then surprise point blank divekicks. So a thought for you. Stopping an hour in. I've got some farming games to get rolling. Best of luck!

Thanks! I'm behind on Ed knowledge because he dropped into SF5 just before I stopped playing. I'll keep working on the right-facing DRs.

True Akiba is nothing now. Though not sure I'd blame gentrification. More just the internet- you don't need to trawl little shops for second hand games and electrical bits, you just buy online.
@jessejace6 ай бұрын
That's a good point. I guess at the fore of my perception is that, once city planners saw the tourist potential of the town, it sparked a new interest in correcting Akiba's claustrophobic, fire-hazard nature and cleaning it up for all to see.

Some quick answers for you: -Yes, you can jump out of Lily's and Manon's SA3s after the super cutscene, but be sure you know which is which, as they both have a lvl 2 that anti-airs. Gief you cannot jump after the cutscene: you must already be airborne. -Burnout against JP is a death sentence. While temping to Lift upper into OD dive kick into OD cannon spike, that's 4 bars for less than 1000 extra damage. Situationally necessary, but such as your first JP round it cost you just as you were saying "Worth". OD dive kick has lots of follow-ups: charged hooligan or any SA, so it isn't useless. Lift Upper into regular divekick is more than enough, and gives the same advantage as medium arrow. @1:16:13: Juri woke up with a backdash. Back dashes are throw invulnerable. -Marissa isn't a free match, lol. Playing defensive rather than playing fisticuffs where she wins is a strong strategy, just time to learn the next layer. -If you're playing and you're feeling frustrated, yes, you are throwing games. And yesterday's you were saying you "didn't hit the armor on that DI". That would mean it was a whiff and you punished it.
