hey man, I love your videos-- super informative. I'm building my batocera machine on a beelink ser7 mini PC and it's been great overall with only some issues here and there I'm still troubleshooting. One of the issues is the Kodi Media Center. It seems to essentially crash my pc whenever I click on it. Do you know why that might be and/or how to fix it? Also a video on using the Kodi Media Center as a home media server would be super helpful. Most existing kodi videos seem to be pretty old.

I have a screenscraper account and it used to work fine but now i have to scrape 1 game at a time it wont scape a whole system it says i have to sign in when i am signed in.

😂 Definitely don't trust AI... EKA2L1 isn't a Sega Saturn Emulator, it's a Symbian OS emulator. Most commonly used to play Nokia N-Gage games. 🤣😂 And Altus is a linux WhatApp client!

I had the same problem the guys are complain about. Big picture opens e closes right after. Uninstalled and then installed again and it works. Linux guys, this shit was made to not work at all

Just as a heads up: Piping curl to bash is a VERY insecure thing to do, especially as root. Make absolutely sure you trust the other end, and even then check what curl is spitting out first. Bash is the program you're typing into to run commands. You are telling bash to grab the text output of a website, then whatever text gets spat out, run that in another instance of bash You are basically giving a website permission to do literally anything to your batocera box, including install malware.

@matrox1233 Destroy everything. From batocera you can, at minimum, format and erase any drive. However, I believe batocera can do ntfs formatted drives, which Windows uses. So unless your drive is encrypted, I also get full read/write access to all your files. If you want to check if a script is trying to do something funny to your other os', look for calls to /dev/sd<letter> and /dev/nvme<number>n<number> Batocera, and linux in general, represent nearly all connected storage devices as files in this format in /dev/. Everything batocera needs should already be mounted, so any script touching these is grnerally a major red flag.

I would reinstall just triple check the install option your clicking the makers of this add on have changed it. Look for an installation choice that says stable or latest.

You need to boot into a fresh batocera or another Linux computer and make a copy of your save partition of the batocera external drive that won’t boot then reinstall batocera onto it and copy your share partition back over. Its not to complicated but it is a little time consuming

You need to go to the settings Properties\Compatibility and check the compatibility box Then a couple of packages from steam will be downloaded and then all the games will be available for installation

@@MyChannel-vm6dw yea just put the sd card (you may need an adapter/dongle) into the pc and boot Batocera. The steam deck build will work on pc and laptop and vise versa !

So my dude Casa OS is like a NAS and Program management OS like Truenas Scale or Proxmox. You can run many different VMs or native apps like Home Assistant and Jellyfin or Plex. Even NVR hosting.

I went from Batocera to Lakka to Linux Mint to BlissOS looking for a working solution to play retro games and watch KZbin and Netflix together using a controller for input. If only I knew you could install Netflix and KZbin on Batocera directly.

I am not sure why some of that stuff is even in there to be fair. Things like CasaOS, Portainer and Docker are more for running home servers for an extensive list of things like your own cloud storage or media servers or computer backups etc that list is extensive to be fair but not really something that should be considered to be run under Batocera in my opinion. Just because people can does not mean they should lol. Probably the most relevant things to install will be all the gaming stuff but even then It is probably better to go the the route of a SteamOS like operating system maybe something like Chimera OS or Bazzite etc and use EmuDeck for retro gaming as those OS's are setup to work better out of the box with Steam compared to Batocera.

I've seen people on the batocera discord request casaos and jellyfin server. Some people want to use 1 machine for multiple purposes. "Should not be" is subjective.

@@Nodsterthe way i see it, batocera is becoming more of an OS alternative to the ultra spyware windows instead of a basic linux distro. You can have a batocera usb drive doing whatever you need cuz its that much versatile. You dont need to use and abuse all the options, but having the options available is fcking great.

@@SilverTester This seems like a lot of hoops to jump through to achieve what can be done in less steps with another distro that is more general purpose or more gaming centric + everyday use. Batocera was clearly designed with one purpose in mind and outside of adding basic stuff like music player, web browser, video player etc this just seems little square peg round hole really. outside of 3 people who is really going to require Docker and Portainer on an OS designed for retro gaming when there are better options available? As I said stuff like a video player I get it but everything else is somewhat illogical really. I guess people are going to go above and beyond because they can :D Also F Windows, that did not even enter the equation because Batocera does retro gaming better anyway.

Double check that your connected to the internet in Batocera settings. Sometimes my machine randomly disconnects. I’m going to check to make sure the terminal entry still works now

Go into the flatpak application and find steam and click uninstall! Although I don’t think that removes all existence of it 😭 *Also triple check the install options instead of following what I do in the video read the options you have on the installer screen and see if the install option has moved it could be 1-2-3-4-5 lol it could be any of the options whichever one says stable*
