Got the 69 grainers on one of the good sales and it shoots really decent out of my DD 16" upper. The 69 grain seems to be out of stock a lot, but they sold me on the AAC line, at least for now.

It's not that M855 is "bad", it's just that switching out M193 for it gave up some useful terminal effectiveness in exchange for a small boost in range and armor defeat capability that is of dubious value at best.

I have Ars for all different calibers and I’m a big believer in m855 Mk262 generally performed better overseas because we were not fighting people with the best equipment. In a more “near peer” conflict where opponents have things like helmets and weigh more than 110 lbs m855 I think would perform very well. Not to mention it is being used in Ukraine to shoot through brick walls, granted it needs to be full auto but it’s quite a capable round. Does some pretty devastating things even at 500 yards

Glad I found your channel, subbed and looking forward to see you grow on YT. Small recommendation: I'd try to film in sun light. It probably is nice sometimes to get into the shade but I think having more light to the camera sensor would help your auto focus be smarter. It seems to be a little confused and switches focus too frequently. I'm not sure what camera you're using but it seems nice, but hell even phone cameras these days shoot great video. Some other tricks to help the autofocus would be to (depending on if this is possible witrh your camera) shoot on higher number of aperature (narrower) to deepen the depth of field. Deepning the depth of field makes a larger range of distance objectcs can be in focus from the focus point. This will also make the background become less blurry as a side effect, which can be a bad thing to some people. Having some background blur can be nice to keep the attention on the subject, but it's all about finding a balance, and me personally, I think remaining in focus is more important than trying to focus the veiwers attention/the asthetic of it. Of course, both would be ideal. Having the subjects in the frame such as yourself and your targets be the same distance away from the camera would help prevent the autofocus from switching around so frequently as well. This trick is useful because it requires no setting change from the camera (which you very well could be using an iphone for all i know)

Absolutely agree with you argument about govt decisions, including the military. They get many things wrong, but occasionally one unit makes headway with a great idea (e.g. Stoner’s AR-15). Personally, I believe the Mk262 and the Mk12 were another set of great ideas that somehow made it through the bureaucracy; the rest I find highly questionable.

I barely remember the origin story of M855A1 at this point, it was supposed to be for better something against a particular kind of target we shot a lot in the GWOT, but more importantly it doesn't have any lead, so the hippies are happy. Lots of teething issues trying to maximize velocity and terminal performance yadda yadda. I need to get out to the range and test loads this week, that's really what this tells me.
