Nice low water pick up! 2 questions... (1) - How does the tunnel pickups effect the turbulent water flow to the prop, and... (2) - What about dissimilar metals in an electrolytic environment (salt water) ? I know they're not in direct contact, but electron flow through the water hoses (electrolyte) ? Is there a place to put Anodes?

So the reason why you don't see boats built like this in Florida and I imagine elsewhere is that as the operator it is simply not safe to be sitting on top of the boat like this and for Florida to get the right proper view when out spotting which I think needs pointing out no one is spotting for fish at 60 miles an hour as well so yes you climb through the t-top to a *"second console"* I think it's called for Fishing Mode just putting the feat up on the top of the steering console. I understand killing the customer is all the rage in the USA going on decades now and in every way especially here in South Carolina but I would recommend that in order to differentiate in such a current reality where we're about to go to War with Iran and no votes or anything on that might want to talk about coming home in one piece these days.😊😅😅😅😊😊

Boats that run this shallow usually have a low water pickup in the tunnel or at the bottom of the transom. No overheating.

The question I have, is...... Do you sell this system separately so that someone can install it on their own boat?
@calling4life
@calling4life 7 ай бұрын
It's referred to as a transom mount water pickup, Bob's Machine Shop sells a kit to do it, I have owned and run it for years on my tunnel hull. Others sell similar, some people just make their own, transom mount pickups have been around forever, they aren't common though, they are an extreme way to go, personally, love mine, zero issues with water pressure. I've got an inline strainer on mine as well, so I catch debris/weeds and can empty it right at the strainer, works excellent. Sounds like they route theirs into their tunnel instead of doing it back on the transom, given that a person wants the water coming out of that tunnel to be as clean as possible, I don't know that putting it in the tunnel is a great idea, again, normally, one mounts them on the transom. But these guys make great rigs, so, I'd say they obviously make it work.

@@Texcajun06 To do this exactly as these guys do it? Like into the tunnel, no, nobody sells that kit. Or what do you mean by kit, are you actually referring to whether you can bring your boat to someone and they'll do this for you? To do a transom mount water pickup which is the same thing just with the water pickup on the transom instead of in the tunnel, yes, Bob's Machine Shop has a kit. Their kit has everything except for the hose, so all you'd need to buy is the hose you want to use, they can't know where or how you'll run your hose so they leave buying the hose up to you. Plus, the hose doesn't need to be anything special. To do this, and to do what these guys in this video have, which is the same thing, they just have the pickup located in the tunnel. You drill into the lower unit where the water accumulation chamber is, you thread that hole, you install the Bob's fitting. Now, locate where on your transom you want the actual pickup, mount the pickup bracket and tube. Run a hose from the fitting on your outboard to the pickup tube on your transom. Now you could buy the Bobs kit and instead of using their transom mount pickup, you could buy the brass high speed pickups like Micro Draft uses and then install them in your tunnel and then you'd run the hose to these, I wouldn't personally recommend going into the tunnel, but it's your life. So, yes, the Bob's Transom Mount Water Pickup kit, is a kit, with everything except for the hose, it has the fittings, the screws, the pickup tube, bracketry. And yes, it is an undertaking to do and do right, and yes, you need to run it into your lower unit, which means drilling into your lower unit. It's slick as snot, I run extremely shallow, I haven't replaced a water pump in my outboard since I installed it either, several years, it gets water to the motor great. I run my motor extremely high, 50%+ of the prop above the water line, I use a PowerTech 4 blade stainless prop like Micro Draft does, they work great. Here is some guys youtube video showing his, he used a strainer inline too, like I did, that is not included with Bobs kit because they don't think it's needed, and maybe not... depends, I love it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4vOeaynm7VngrM It isn't rocket science to do, but it is involved. You also need to block off the normal water intake inlets on your outboard so the transom mount pickup is all that feeds water to your motor.

@@calling4life Thanks dude! I'd say you more than answered my question. Yes, I wanted to know if someone sold the pieces/parts to install a low water pickup. I thought Bob's only sold the nose cone mod, which I had no interest in. I wouldn't feel comfortable fitting the nosecone by myself, but I would not have an issue with drilling and tapping a hole into my lower unit. Thanks again!
