I should have watched this first, first thing is there is some useful information in it BUT the software seems to have been designed as a quick college project by a 16 year old with no concept of usability or experience of working on a car. It's like a weird rabbit warren, take a guess where we might have hidden this information (if we actually have it that is). To be honest I kind of gave up in a mental fury and kicked myself for wasting money. Also it seems badly researched however I'm not 100% sure if some things I criticised on a previous edit are actually incorrect but I've lost confidence , the general bits are infuriating and they should be marked clearly as non specific, it isn't always easy to tell at first glance so time is wasted, I'm not a child and I do know how a car works. I just need a basic layout of various things to make it easier to do a job on a specific car that I haven't done before. It's very like a pirated CDR/download of stuff sold on eBay for a fiver just less comprehensive and presented in a swish looking but difficult interface.

i am only 7 mins in after KZbin recommended this, i will watch the rest later on my next break however i thought i would just type this, i have worked on cars for over 20 year now and 90% of my tools are now halfords professional advance all bought by myself and i love them yes i have my cheaper what you call knocking tools that are used shall we say for things they aren't designed for and hit with hammers regular (got to love those rust seized hard to access nuts on cars lol) i have never had to return a single halfords tool under its life time guarantee (touch wood lol) and would tell any one on a budget that wants something to last give them a try.

A good mechanic: Good Knowledge, and Careful Work. I am indebted for this important bit of knowledge. I would find out what removes that emulsion ( perhaps solvent or kerosene), give it a good flush with clean oil diluted with solvent...drain, and then give it fresh oil again.. run not more than 30 mins or an hour.. enough to get it really up to temp, drain well, and fill again. All before it goes back to work. Taking a chance on having a small oil drilling clogged with that gunk is not worth the time and materials to be sure it;'s right.

Thanks for your video! Though I missed some practical steps to “get there” this video helped me doing the job myself. Saved myself 300 euros by ordering a 30 euro part. I have a left hand drive duster 2 from 2018, it is located indeed just above (like 25 cm above) the gas pedal. My screw was missing already, so that tells me the part has been replaced before… made the job easier for me though 😊. Anyway: be aware I have manual airco, that requires a different part then cars with automatic/ climate control systems. Just make sure you get the right part. I was done within 30 minutes, researching on the internet took me about 3 hours. 😂

Good day,. i have kind of a random question so here i go. I will be coming to Corfu in september on my first ever solo travel at 47. Greece is my absolute favorite country to travel to. I am trying to learn the language and am looking for someone to meet up with for a couple of lessons as i am there. I am kind of a shy person but i know that if i want to learn the language i need to actually start talking. I am still in the beginner stages and would love to move away from that. Do you know of someone who would be willing to meet with me? It doesn't have to be a 'real' teacher at all. I will be staying in Gouvia, Have a lovely rest of your sunday. Juliette from Holland xxx

Good video - in my opinion halfords advanced fit in a good position, quality is better than cheap unbranded and even cheaper branded tools (e.g. Draper, Stanley), but way cheaper than expensive brands you mentioned like Stahlwille, Facom, Hazet, Snapon etc. Good for DIY mechanics like myself who don't want to waste time with bad tools that can get you into trouble rounding bolts etc. A relative has a bunch of similarly priced stuff from Clarke (Machine Mart) which also looks OK but I think I prefer my halfords kit to be honest. The modular trays are brilliant I have almost a complete set now excluding the pliers and screwdrivers where I think there are better choices (Knipex and Wera respectively) as anyone working at home will use those a lot.

Hi Ross, thank you for posting this. I own a Villa near Kassiopi in Corfu. It is run as a company and we have been paying Greek Tax for more than two years so I think we are able to also apply for this grant from the Government to get a solar system. Is your system all up and working? If so, could you help me apply? Not sure if its in your line of work but since I live in London would you be interested in also quoting for your time in getting our Villa set up with the same system you have? Using the same electrician would make sense if they were good? No hurry, could be done over next winter when you may have more time? Regards Charlie

You are dead on. I regrettably purchased the AutoFix product, due to there not being a printed version for my car. There is a grand total of ONE guides for my car. The rest are generic tutorials that are less useful than youtube. I remember the printed manuals had a guide for changing every damn bolt in the car. I feel swindled...

This was the problem with my 3000 as well, thanks for this video. I originally thought it was the broken armature winding connection being shown in several videos here on KZbin because when I banged in on the side it would work briefly. Also, if I put a clamp across either side of it to apply some pressure it would work. But those connections were good and there was continuity through both windings. So after coming across your video I took it back apart and started looking at the spade/lug terminals between the switch housing and the stator housing. Sure enough, they also showed signs of arcing, and on one of them the receptacle was very loose, one half of it was a bit bent and deformed and it was quite dark from arcing. In my case I was able to take a micro sized jewellers screwdriver and bend the deformed half of that receptacle into a position that tightened up the connection and it works fine for now. BTW... while mine is about 6 years old, it has been used very lightly and infrequently and has never been used for the the type of stuff you used it for. I therefore think that your heavy use was not the problem, it's a design flaw. The heavy use would surely cause the failure to occur sooner though for all the reasons you mention.

Basically US Pro / Nielson or Halfords Pro will get me fixing most things. cheers

Great review fella thanks. I'm just about to pull the trigger on one and I'm getting a rather attractive deal to boot. Had an s series, convinced it would be fine, against my better judgement. and it was fine but left much to be desired. This time I shall be getting the m600. m700 appears the exact same machine, with additional 'smart' features, that probably won't work either. I'll scratch that one (maybe an extra years warranty for the price). I really don't understand why these companies don't subby out their software to someone competent. I just want it to work, the other stuff is a bonus, hopefully they've sorted it I like being able to monitor my pool. Wish I had have gotten my last chlorinator wifi connected. Speaking of which. You say you add chlorine? I've got a reverse polarity (self cleaning) chlorinator cell. All I do is chuck a bit of acid in at the end of the week.... and a boatload of salt when the wet season comes admitedly.. some liquid chlorine definitely handy that time of year but generally i find as long as I've got the acid right it's all good... any dramas some more acid quickly eliminates them (the stuff growing in the pool seems to suffer a much quicker death from higher acid levels then higher chlorine levels). Thanks for the heads up on the flow with the filters too. I just put the fine filters in but perhaps I might be better off with letting the flow be higher to get the big stuff and perhaps do the occasional fines run. Actually I was thinking of ordering a second basket so I can just swap one out and chuck it back in then clean the filter.. perhaps i could have different filter set ups on both (now I think of it one major reason I got the s400 over the m was the old m filter basket was a horrific pain in the arse to clean). Great video. No wonder a man reeking of such competence lives in such grandeur. (you knew what you were doing with you little spin arounds...)

Very informative, thank you! What I do miss if you use IP-TV in your house, and if that IP-TV signal is passed through all nodes and switches without a problem? I'm reading into this now and to my understanding all network devices need to support "IGMP Snooping" to be able to handle IP-TV signal traffic. What model switches are you using, and are there IP-TV settop boxes (your TV provider) connected to them?

When it comes to french well obviously " Facom " but its easy to see why snap on offer such latitude on their replacement policy ? because of their exorbitant pricing in the first place ! if they are so good how come they ever brake the first place! they charge so much so as to pay the reps to come round in a van , ! The first company to do that was KAMAZA, \Snap on tools break , they justify the price paying guys to go round pro workshops.

I changed the turbocharger on a 2014 Astra, And all it had was about a paragraph of useless info with copy and paste of that same picture of safety goggles & those green gloves 😂😂 Autofix cancelled and got a refund after seeing how useless to me the manual was, Pure crap...... Very good - bowriders and RIBs are very popular here. Some superb cruising grounds and wonderful beaches and hidden coves. Many little sea front villages have local tavernas with jetties to support the passing boat trade. Parts and maintenance are expensive though, being a small island a lot has to be ordered in so the associated costs are added to the bill.

@@robertnewzealand not really, but I’m usually busy with work so I don’t tend to be in the touristy areas. There are lots of less well known beaches and coves that the locals use rather than the popular places. Obviously it is busy here in the summer (parking can be difficult!) but still only similar to a U.K. town. We only have 99000 full time residents here, so off season it’s very quiet - so the summer is busy only really relative to the off season.

Sounds like Haynes is trying to stay relevant and still make money in a digital age at the expense of people like me who recall the manuals of old as being "gospel" and would have fallen for this. What really annoys me is that Haynes was filling a huge void, and now no one is. As a rank amateur, I just can't get hold of workshop manuals for the cars I need to maintain, and I can't afford an AllData subscription for the infrequent amount of access I need to that data. There's actually an opportunity for AllData to sell "one month access" to people like me (and yes, I know about their DIY thing but that doesn't appear to be available to me in the UK, I was told to move along). I'd really like to know if anyone knows the best place to find workshop manuals for simple things like Ford Fiesta, Kia Sportage, and Vauxhall Corsa D (etc, bound to be more in the future)
