This is great advice! I only have 2 little rangefinders and I want to buy a digital camera. I am leaning towards fuji, honestly because of the look (particularly on cameras with the X-tran I sensor, I know they are old), but the slow autofocus worries me a bit, tho Im sure I would buy vintage manual lenses and then autofocus wouldnt even enter the pcture. Anyway I need to keep researching, I went as far as organizing all the info Ive gathered about 35 to 40 cameras in Excel, that way I can compare everything from specs, price and looks. But the feeling or look of the images is hard to figure out by just reading specs

How I chose a camera, I looked at the Reddit communities for the primary brands. At first I was attracted to Fujifilm's retro look, but then I found Sony's Alpha community and really liked the look of photos from those cameras. I don't know about theme, but I'm keen to practice my macro photography more - close to home and in the forested areas above us, and street photography in our neighboring Colonias and in Centro. So maybe a theme is just journaling "life in San Cris" through those lenses. Ok, a Gemini-too-many-words question for you or others in the comments. I'm super self-conscious of capturing stuff that has people in it, especially living down here in MX. I'm curious and would love to get photos in Mercados and on the streets of San Cris that will invariably have people in them, but I don't want to come off as an intrusive American in this place where I'm a guest. idk what you mean when you say “inspire” but personally i find myself entirely demotivated to even think about doing photography with my big bulky cameras, it’s not until i got a much smaller camera that was more reasonable to bring with me to places that i suddenly felt incredibly motivated to do photography again, because it wasn’t a inconvenient burden to carry around a heavy camera anymore, just had something pocket sized that took just as good picture. i’m sure some others have had a similar issue when it comes to motivation dropping when they have gear that’s too heavy, too inconvenient, too big, too many attachments, etc.
@ChrisBroganPhotos10 күн бұрын
The right tool definitely helps. I mean "inspire" like some people seem eager to say they can't shoot pics unless their camera makes them want to pick it up. I think SIZE and portability definitely play a part. Something like a big bulky Nikon D800 sure isn't a "pick up and snap" kind of camera. I use a Sony A6000 for my "pocket" camera, even when I also take out my Sony A7iv. I think a little point and shoot would be just as good for that sentiment, too. They're coming back into popularity, especially older digicams from the early 2000s.
