These were remarkable shows, we need these at this time, I feel alot of the younger generation has evolved into self emotional narcissists and have no curiosity aside from some conjured inward attention to self. The lathe was great! sync over the phone verbally and its still readable :)

Hey Tim, Huge fan of yours over here in Tallahassee Florida. I thought of you when I watched this "Far Side" animation bit, where a cow plays a cow-themed video game. Wouldn't it be fun to make a game that simulates a cow playing his game? kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHq8fX6eZ9x_ms0si=XsvmbBF2xFwMLy15

Why? It's one of the most fascinating parts of the museum. I first went to the Science Museum when I was four and the whole place was brilliant, but when I went sixty years later it had gone downhill big time, although the Secret Life of the Home gallery was one of its highlights. What are they going to replace the gallery with? The Secret Science of Wokeism perhaps?

I had one for christmas back in the early 70s and absolutely loved it! You could even get a little drive shaft with four pulleys on to drive little tools like grinders and polishers and stuff! I still have it but its in need of restoration.

I can hear the cat next to Tim at beginning of video purring, wandering if an effort was taken to pick that up in the audio during filming.

Awww such a shame! I got a chance to walk round it once with my wife and kids but with many time constraints so I couldn’t really linger and absorb. Kept meaning to go again but now I’ve blown it. Very much looking forward to seeing your more detailed vids. 😊❤

For 30 YEARS I've been looking for this series. I had almost given up 😭. I remembered bit's of the intro. But I thought it was lost to forgotten media. Thank you!

Thats a shame, its the best part of the museum at the moment, can't believe how bland and empty it has become. My kids loved it.

I have to say your work and tv programmes were and still are today great fun and inspiration for millions of inquisitive minds out there. It's a shame that something like this can't find a permanent home somewhere to spur young minds to be the inventors of the future. They gave me hope towards the last years of "TV and Radio Servicing college" in 1988 and I ended up at Sony, then onto a long career in electronics. Thank you. Ast...

This is our favorite go to place in the Science Museum. Love the toilet, the wash machine and the fridge, even a few weeks ago we were competing to get the biggest temperature difference. I huge mistake to close it. Everything always works when we visit. We also visit the "modern interactive displays and usually about 1/4 to 1/2 are out of order.

Today your exhibit was consistently full of people of all ages laughing, pointing, interacting and talking. It's still the best, most joyous and inspiring part of the science museum. Household science and engineering is where all of our fascinations with the world start and this part of the museum has inspired people to see the things around them in a whole different light for nearly 30 years. Thank you for inspiring so many people whilst also bringing so much laughter into into the world.

Thank you for the warning Tim! Luckily I had Friday off and made the journey into London to enjoy your exhibit one more time. I overheard many children (and grown ups) enjoying your creations, especially the generator. It was wonderful to see it all, and even got a few people touching the refrigerators sign! I grew up watching the Secret Life programmes we had recorded on VHS.

I am glad that you mentioned this, I was able to flit up after work today for one last look around, even if sadly I couldn't flush the cutaway toilet a final time. I remembered it vividly from childhood trips and a couple of more recent ones. There is nothing better in a museum than physical objects in displays to look at, especially with some proper interractive things thrown in. It was pretty full today with people of all ages, so I reckon it would have plenty of life left for years to come with a little TLC. This and the TV series are largely responsible for my lifelong compulsion to disassemble broken things and attempt to repair them, even if it does mean my house looks rather like the gallery...

Such a shame this is closing, it’s one of the few things I vividly remember from visiting the Science Museum as a kid and I recall spending hours down there with my dad explaining how everything on display worked. Think I last saw it about 9 years ago now and it was still an excellent exhibition. I don’t think any replacement will ever beat this one or last as long as it has!
