Would love to see the young lady karate black belt demonstrate her favourite kata, then explain the bunkai for women’s self defence against a potential male attacker ! Us female karateka would really appreciate it thank you, OSS ❤️🥋...

I was trading USDT with a friend but we fell out because of something. She gave me an OKX wallet code [pride]-[pole]-[obtain]-[together]-[second]-[when]-[future]-[mask]-[review]-[nature]-[potato]-[bulb] and asked me to withdraw the remaining USDT. What is this? How do I do this? Please tell me

Here is a rendition of the real Chatan Yara no Kon from the Taira-Akamine linage performed by Andreas Quast. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnLLY5pjoc9_jM0si=fhxKYoBcseXl5x-I I love kata, but sticking a name like Chatan Yara to a non-traditional kata just to make it seem more trustworthy is not by any means okay.
@torontokarate3 ай бұрын
Oh. So the one you posted didn’t come from the Chatan Yara lineage? ;) Thanks for the comment. Always good to know that there was only one “true” student that passed a kata down. lol.
@stefansandbergsweden3 ай бұрын
@@torontokarate Yes it did, but this is a longer clip of the full version. The kata you are performing dosen't have a lot of the core techniques found in Chatan Yara no Kon. Anyone who knows their kobudo history knows who Taira Shinken was and that two of his main students gave us two very similar versions of the kata. Kata that are very desimilar and with no clear linage should not take a name just to sound legitimate. That's just my view. As I said, I love kata. I don't have a problem with people coming up with their own kata, but call it something else. Don't use well known masters to propagate your own agenda.

@@torontokarate Here is the other version from the Taira-Inoue linage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmaQdnaBh5ulbNksi=SBTCgK7ojfQu2-ro Inoue was Tairas most senior student (Akamine was Inous kohai) and this is the version he handed down. It is very similar to the Taira-Akamine version.

@@stefansandbergswedenmy “agenda” is simply to record the Kata as I was taught it, so that it can be maintained and remembered without variation. Would love to see any evidence you have about the lineage of Chatan Yara No Kon.

It's my pleasure. A heads up that there may be some minor differences between the kata that you'll learn and the ones here, but the core principles (and hopefully most of the kata) will be the same. Best of luck in your training!

@@torontokaratethank you i’ll keep that in mind, i done shotokan karate for a year already so it’ll be really different to the goju ryu katas but still same principles

Interesting way to do GSD1, looks like some goju kai elements in the kata.
@torontokarate Жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video. Part of our lineage can be traced back to Gogen Yamaguchi's Goju Kai. From what I've seen of the various version of GSD 1, the differences are extremely minor and the principles remain the same. As is the case with most of the variations I've seen between the Goju kata from various organizations.

Is there a Shotokan element to this dojo then because Bassai Dai is not Goju-Ryu, I train and teach traditional Okinawa Goju Ryu and we do not add or teach kata outside of our style.
@torontokarate Жыл бұрын
Nope. We're a Goju-Ryu dojo. One of our traditions, for a few "generations" now, has been to teach Bassai Dai as a single non-goju kata. I suspect it was chosen as it appears across several styles of karate.

Fellow karateka, I wonder why is age-uke followed by chuudan tsuki instead of joudan tsuki? Since this is the Joudan taikyoku
@caueonofri Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. jodan means upper body, right? I learned it should be all in Sanchin dachi and focused on upper attack and defense. Seems that this kata is mixed between jodan and chudan

Hi. There are frequently differences in how the kata are taught across dojos. Even within the same organization sometimes. Personally, I believe that the principles of karate remain the same even with minor variations in kata and that it’s more important to ensure there are good self defence applications for your kata. Thank you for the comment and all the best in your training!

If I recall correctly Mawashi Uke involves a more circular block and press. The third kiai is what surprised me… a personal interpretation, or a variation, I’m wondering.
