Oh, now I get why Kodaka thought Miu would be at the bottom of a character list and why he was surprised she ranked so high. I've always thought of Miu as the embodiment of everything against of the archetype of a "Yamado Nadeshiko" or the ideal woman in Japan. A yamato nadeshiko is perceived by the following traits: she must be kind, gentle, respectful to everyone and herself, humble, able to read the mood, etc. You get the point already. Often depicted with black hair and modest clothing. Miu is basically anything _but_ those traits I just mentioned: she's noisy, can't read the mood, insensitive, naughty/kinky, dirty-minded, etc. She's a sensitive, cowardly mess on the inside too, which makes it all the more hilarious. Her hair is (quite possibly) bleached (bleaching your hair in Japan is often seen by Yankees or rebels) and her clothes are pink, but provocative/suggestive, and she knows that. Knowing and being aware of all that, I can see why Kodaka didn't expect her to be so liked when everyone else has more waifu-like features to them, but honestly? These reasons are why I love Miu so much.
