Superb! Deepest thanks to Exploding House Films of Bermuda. Driving along as the sun comes up -- in Hi Def splendor. My wife and I spent the decade of the 70s in Bermuda, and celebrated our 50th anniversary this month (11/1/2024). Shared I see "6 years ago" with, deservedly "36K views." Suddenly I'm 'there' -- driving my VW Polo (smaller than a Rabbit) along those peaceful shorelines, bluest skies, with big white clouds -- so low, you feel you could reach up and touch them. Haven't been back (though our sons have) -- 40 years and counting the days till we can return. As the Talbot Brothers (The Mills Brothers of Bermuda) would sing: It is truly ". . . another world -- turn around and you'll be gone; but you'll always have the mem'ries, that will linger on and on . . . " Suddenly, just before reaching "Devonshire Parish" there' a big, beautiful round building that wasn't there before (40 years ago). At the 26:57 mark -- pause to read that it is "ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH. I've visited once before through "Bermuda Daydreamin' FB page" -- they have a state-of-the-art electronic pipe organ. To borrow from a favorite 'seasonal song' -- "I'll be there for Christmas, if only in my dreams."

Sorry not to get back to you sooner but at least I have the answer! The song is called Autumn in Bermuda by Hubert Smith and his Calypso Band. You might be able to get the LP or CD at facebook.com/themusicboxbermuda/ They are very knowledgeable about these old time records. I bought this LP 41 years ago and sadly Hubert went to his reward 22 years ago.

Oh yes they are functional and an architectural feature too. We mostly burn artificial logs or imported kindling. Bermuda is officially the most expensive country in the world. Bermuda is also sub tropical and gets cool in the first four months of the year and just about perfect the rest of the time. Snow has never been seen but there's an 1800 (or so) story that says one morning to everyones consternation standing fresh water formed an icy skin until the sun came up.

Hi Susan, Grafton, VT not far from Woodstock at all. We did sugaring for the first time ever this year. My 13 year old really wanted to try it so we had a ball. I work in Keene, NH so it's an hour each way but that's o.k. Glad you like the "rock" and we need visitors like you to talk it up. I hope you have a fantastic time.

I love Bermuda because it was like an English haven for my family for generations. My Father and his Sisters resided here. We were able to enjoy and relish the many stories told and the roasted Turkeys annually at Christmas. He worked at the Bermuda Diner for many years. Nice sample of the local singing artists.

I'm glad you have happy memories of Bermuda. Bermuda is not quite so English, I would say British, as it once was but has evolved a sense of its own style with perhaps more of a nod to the islands far away to the south in the Caribbean (which we are not). The local traditions including the roast turkeys are stronger than ever. Come back someday.

Thank you for the kind words which are much appreciated. The music for this video comes from a pool of OLD calypso music I've been accumulating in fits and starts since 1982. I've been listening to this music since 1960. We have a couple of versions of this song, one dating from 1955, but this version is called That's The Place For Me by Hubert Smith. It might by Hubert Smith and The Coral Islanders - that seems familiar somehow. In one other video I did one of the Talbot Family contacted me to correct me on which Talbot it was that did the lead singing! This video was originally conceived as a backgroundl soundtrack to be played during summer barbecue evenings. I'm glad you like it.

Hi! Thanks for this wonderful video. I fell in love with the Diddlybops song at 44:08 and spent an afternoon trying to research who sang it and hoping I could find it to listen online somewhere. No luck finding it to stream but finally found what I thought was it and bought a used record of Stan Seymour called Everybody Loves Bermuda. Sadly, that version isn't quite the same as yours. Can you help me out and tell me what your song is?

The Song is The Diddley Bops by The Merrymen a very prominent band ...in Barbados. In about 1965 they came to Bermuda at the invitation of Eddie DeMello a Bermudian music entrepeneur and recorded an album soon after which had some wonderful songs often re hashed and retitled from earlier hits back home but classics of my youth just the same. The lead singer is Emile Straker. Look on The Merrymen site. They were a big band and should have a site. The Bermuda album was their only one here and was probably them being a bit traitorous to Barbados. The album was on Edmar records and although Eddie is dead his shop is still open and is called The Music Box on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. It is run by two sisters by the memorable name of Escolastica. They are on Facebook and their telephone number is +1 441-295-4839. I love that song. BTW thanks for liking the video if I told you how many hours went into it with editing and arguing with KZbin you wouldn't believe me.

At last! I've been waiting for years for someone to ask me that question. The answer is that I built a square rig made out of one inch schedule 80 plastic pipes and professional suction cups which mounted on the roof of my car over the sunroof which in profile looked a bit like the outline of a dog and so we called it the black dog. The tall front piece rose up to about 8' and terminated in a metal go pro mount. The plastic ones weren't strong enough. On top of that mount I attached a Feiyu Tech gimble handle topped by a GoPro 7 (whatever the latest one was anyway) I controlled and monitored the camera from down below in the car by Bluetooth to an iPhone and I aimed, tilted and rotated the camera by a tiny Feiyu Tech Bluetooth toggle remote. It was a busy two handed operation and this video took 9 weeks to 'film'. Once in the early days we were driving along the road to Ferry reach staring at the phone screen in my hand when I noticed to my dismay that the Belco wires had sagged to the height of the camera and below. Quick slamming of brakes. A cop on Boaz Island stopped us mid video and strained mightily to find something to book us on but reluctantly had to let us go on our way. Thanks for asking.

That is me indeed. I was born in that house ("Milwood"). I sold it but do miss it. Still have the Harley too. Like many Bermudians I built this house in VT as a vacation home but since my Mom was American I have dual passports. Have we met?
@NorthernSongsCWX

Yes. We met a couple of times introduced by your cousin and my (then) good friend Nancy from across the road from you. Nancy and I were close for many years. I also had some small business dealings with your wife Julie who worked at PW's. Millwood was very beautiful and elegant and probably still is. One day I noticed they'd built another house in the grounds but I expect you knew that. Thanks for liking the video which took easily 100 hours to edit. One section was filmed nine times and that meant nine sunny early Sunday mornings so that the traffic was lighter than workdays. Now, with camera speed modifications and effective gimbals it'd be a lot more manageable. If I filmed a kitten playing with a ball of yarn I could get 10X the views in a month!
