Google the efficiency of solar panels with increasing temperature. Ye; it goes DOWN dramatically as temps go up, as does the lifespan of the panel! As you have sealed it onto the roof it's hotter than the hobs of hell under the panel, even in cold weather. ie; you have the same heating effect as parking the (naked roof) car in the sun with the windows closed, but a much faster heat up due to a smaller space/volume. All in all: Bad plan based on ignorance and what looks like close to zero fabrication skills.
@HondaFit4Adventure
@HondaFit4Adventure 3 күн бұрын
Yes, I am aware of heat degradation. This was not an issue since the panel had an air pocket underneath it, creating an insulated barrier much like a thermos. I also ran the battery temperature sensor coming off the charge controller, underneath the solar panel to monitor the temperature under the panel. The corrugated PVC strips were also laid all the same direction. If heat ever did become an issue, I could have easily poked holes in the front and rear of the vinyl allowing air to flow through the corrugated PVC channels. All in all: The solar panel has been on the car for over a year and heat has never been an issue as it stays well within its normal operating temperature range. Feel free to leave any ideas on how you think the installation can be approved upon.

The complaints on the uncomfortable seat is bewildering to me. I thru and thru never think about my seat because it is such an enjoyable ride. I only wish there was a design feature that allowed you to raise the middle console for better arm rest ability. Other than that such a great vehicle! I have a 2017 and have had a 2015 as well. Neither was bad for me. Sore backs to me is normal. The road noise was improved in the 2017. I think for a hatch it has great sound insulation!
