Like others have said, it's a shame Moore's version of Bond pushed for camp; this is the kind of Bond Daniel Craig excelled at. I haven't seen this movie in years, but it's a winner!

Every drug dealer thinks he's gansta- right up until Sean Flynn rocks up with a big bag of gear and a pistol. Roger Moore was brilliant as Sean Flynn in TWG. I saw him live at Southport theatre in 2016, he was absolutely hilarious- superb witty sense of humour. He described, 'The Persuaders,' as, '"The best BAD television ever made!" lol :)

Imagine if we had seen this side of Moore in more than just a few scenes of For Your Eyes Only. Moore was a really underrated actor who could really pull off seriousness.

A superb film made in '76 but released in '77 .this should be a lesson for today's film makers how to script, film & act out a story without the need for overbearing music, CGI ,trick photography & elaborate gadgets.

Moore really was superb in this film, “The Wild Geese,” and in another by the same group, “The Sea Wolves.” (Two of my all-time favourites.) The one time he played James Bond with the same seriousness was “For Your Eyes Only.” When he applied himself, he could be a forceful screen presence.

Moore used a Swiss service pistol, a Sig P210, a $3,000 gun outside Switzerland and likely the finest production military-issue pistol ever made. This movie was class all the way...

I reckon Roger Moore and Richard Harris swapped characters when they read the script as both are playing against type.

Roger Moore was the director's main choice for Fynn, despite that the studio offered the role to OJ Simpson when they mistook the character being "black Irish", Either Burton or Harris wanted Oliver Reed in a role either Fynn or Hardy Kruger's role but the director didn't want more than two heavy drinkers in the same movie.

So here we have Roger Moore; noted as perhaps the most upbeat and light James Bond (with a few hints of Bond's ruthlessness yes, but far less than most of his fellow Bonds), channelling Dalton and Craig level ruthlessness, showing that he could have played that kind of Bond if that's what was asked of him.
@jamesdunn1935 Жыл бұрын
Craig was way too brooding in my opinion. Roger Moore at least kept the Bond mood pleasant.
@JamesTobiasStewart Жыл бұрын
@@jamesdunn1935 I don't really disagree with you there, I found Craig's Bond to be rather joyless and grim a lot of the time and while that may be accurate to real word espionage, if I wanted that I would rewatch Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy again (it is an excellent story). I go to Bond to have fun as I watch an amazing adventure.
