I took mom on a road trip several years ago specifically to visit the museum in Albuquerque and it was such a treat and a wonderful bonding moment. We ran out of time and didn’t make it to Abiquiu unfortunately. Mom is now 95 and I am hoping for at least one more road trip with her, hopefully to New Mexico and Abiquiu. ❤🙏🏻🤞🏻

I Grew Up In BC Canada

A great spot on the south part of highway 1 is Redwood Gulch. There is no trail. You hike directly in the steep canyon bottom.. Its like being in land-of-the-giants, The canyon is lined with giant boulders and majestic Redwoods. You're scrambling over huge boulders, doing log walks on giant fallen redwoods to cross pools of water and crawling under other fallen Redwoods. Its about 20 miles north of San Simeon. There are no signs, but a large pull out. Its so unique that I once took 9 friends on a day trip to hike it.
