Awesome job for a simplified and basic power driven table. One thing could make it even better is to use a dc geared motor with a control that has reverse voltage and speed control. This would streamline the back and forth process. For making understandable and simplifying the concept, you have done a major service to hobbyists. Thank you for your kind sharing.

Hi there, we bought a mini mill from HF for our school. Can you possibly share the X, Y Z-axis (especially Z-axis) bracket technical drawings with me if you have them available? If you need my email address, please let me know. Take care.

I have drawing at home that I will send you later today.

it seems that the reply tab will not allow me to send the print file as an attachment. If you send an email to: [email protected] I will send you a print of the parts I used

I have 4 or 5 old drills with dead batteries. I bet one could be modified for this project
@thingmaker75382 жыл бұрын
I actually used a cheap corded drill for the purpose of being able to use a separate speed controller but feel free to use whatever setup you like.

Can you update the link to the corded drill you used? The link you gave us doesn't work.
@thingmaker75384 жыл бұрын
You can use a corded drill from Harbor Freight tools. Drill Master 3/8 variable speed reversible drill (60615)They have one with the collar for a support handle. That is the one I used and the link is for Amazon's version (which is the same drill). At the time I made the video, I was an Amazon affiliate.

Is that box at 6:40 a drill speed controller kit? How do you reverse the drill? Is it a forward/reverse drill?
@suzettekendal60634 жыл бұрын
The box is a router speed controller available at Harbor Freight Tools . I reverse the power feed by switching the direction switch on the drill.
@mickcarson85044 жыл бұрын
@@suzettekendal6063 But, the drill is AC Mains, I can't remember if reversing a Mains drill is possible. I think I've retired for too long now, I am starting to forget things. 😣 Correction: I've just found out, yes you can reverse a mains drill. Silly me. 🙄 But, how did you wire it to make the drill go in reverse? Are there any instructions?

Does the handle still turn easily with the drill connected all the time? This definitely seems simpler than a lot of the other videos I've seen which require clutch mechanisms.
@thingmaker75385 жыл бұрын
There is some resistance from the drill but it does turn fairly easily.

This project is intended to be a do-it-yourself type thing. I haven't given a lot of thought about marketing power feeds. The components are pretty straight forward. I'll have to give it some thought.
