@@Margxela everyone uses the same satellites. We cologuially call it GPS, but there are other systems like GLONASS that do the same job. Google is not using different satellites than Apple. The difference is map data, which is not done by satellites, but by all kinds of other data like roads, traffic, locations, and all of the longitude and latitude coordinates of those things. The only thing the satellites do is provide data to your phone about the phone's position on that same coordinate system. The rest is done by your phone or a server that is cross referencing the data on roads, your location, the destination's location, and all other kinds of data. Those satellites are not owned or operated by Google or Apple. In fact, Google and Apple use the same satellites.

@@Trainer_Ruffles No, they're not. Not anymore. They had a REALLY bad start, but what kind of ACTUAL and SERIOUS issues with it have been reported in the last 5 years? They've just never been able to drop the stigma they gained at launch. There are a ridiculous number of things I can crap on Apple with, like their independent repair program being a scam, their ridiculous hardware failures they refuse to acknowledge, the most recent propaganda stunt they pulled featuring MKBHD, or their constant hypocritical greenwashing. However, when people act like Apple Maps is the cause of this problem and nothing else does this, they remove legitimacy to public criticism about their real and continuing issues.

I'm not able to find any confirmed deaths, just a lot of worry over dangerous inaccuracies... over 10 years ago... And they're still updating it and supporting it. It's actually one of the very few times Apple has genuinely apologized for something and called it a mistake (because usually they prefer to gaslight, like telling you that you're holding the phone wrong). They have fixed many problems and people that were checking for issues have not found anything quite as glaring as it had in the beginning when it launched in 2012. As much as I dislike Apple, Maps is actually decent now. It's nothing special, which is probably why it can't shake the stigma. The issue shown in the video is actually caused by most routing systems. Since the traffic data updates relatively slowly, when you accept the new route and part way down it the traffic updates from the other people it sent down that route, it's already going to be slower to get back around, at least as far as it knows (these systems can't account for you being able to do something like use a driveway to turn around or something).

@CreativityNull ahh okay I remember reading something about someone's GPS leading them off a bridge. But I domt remember what the person was using. But it was destroyed for 9 years and the GPS lead them right off. And Apple maps is the only one I know to make stupid mistakes like not knowing a bridge is down. They used to have places marked wrong amd a bunch of other shit. So yeah maybe no concrete apple map deaths but definitely one tragic one that could be
