Hello Tony, have you thought of using the function in the move tool that enables you to duplicate the move/duplicate procedure by entering the number of times you wish to duplicate and have Affinity do them for you. Once you have duplicated and moved the shadow the first time you can hit enter and an option box appears and by ticking the duplicate option and entering a number you can see the results - you will also need to have 1px in the vertical and horizonal options and change the insertion option to behind .. I hope you can understand what I am trying to explain .. cheers

Great tutorial. In Affinty all layers are 'Smart Objects'. This is one of the big advantages of Affinity Photo over Photoshop. When you rasterize the layer then is not a 'Smart Object' anymore.
@tonycarretti2872Күн бұрын
Yes, you are correct! But I have noticed that certain live filters and effects don’t always work properly on certain layers unless I rasterize them. I usually try to keep as many smart layers as possible, but sometimes there’s no choice. Thanks so much for taking a look and for your feedback!

Hi Tony, if you could put step by step in a video for beginners, that would be helpful. From colour, dimensions etc. I am wanting to follow but you are very advanced with your instructions. Brilliant but I’m just a beginner and there must be more out there 😅😍

Hi Tony, I love this but am a complete beginner. Do you have a step by step. This is very advanced. Thanks ML
@tonycarretti28722 күн бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching the tutorial! I try to cover all the steps in my tutorials so that folks can follow along but I understand that in the beginning, some things take longer to "sink in" than others. I would suggest slowing the playback speed down or pausing the video at a point while you test out the technique. I can try to slow some things down, but I've found that most people tend to click away if the tutorials are dragging on. That's partly due to the fact that some people make their videos too long just to accumulate view time to monetize their channel. I try to cut out all the chaff so that I'm only presenting stuff that is relevant (also because I have no personality... lol...) If there are specific things that you need assistance with, I highly suggest that you join the Affinity Skool forum. There are over 1200 members already at all different levels and the community itself is extremely friendly and helpful. What's really nice about it is that you can ask questions and there are usually a few members that will be more than happy to answer them, myself included. The link is at the bottom of all of my Affinity Photo tutorial videos. Hope that is helpful!

So I just noticed that the subject of the picture you did has a little bit of halo. How do you suggest getting rid of that?
@tonycarretti28723 күн бұрын
I’m away from my computer right now but I’ll take a look when I get home. It might just be a case of doing a better job selecting the subject since the effect is only done on the background layers.

Thanks for the tutorial. I've been following a number of black and white to colour tutorials lately, and see some prefer using soft light and other prefer the colour blend mode. Any particular reason you settled on the soft light blend mode?
@tonycarretti28724 күн бұрын
@@paulcreedy5253 Thanks for checking it out! For me at least, the soft light blending mode seemed the most subtle and “natural” looking option. I’m sure though that either would be suitable as long as you’re satisfied with the outcome. Which do you prefer?

I am so impressed with your brilliant skills and training and selfless sharing tutorials in Affinity Photo. I am the village idiot, however. What I am missing is education for design, or art, or whatever it is called. But super cool that I can start to grasp AP and actually make use of it. Love all your vids. Where is the tip jar? No better way to express my thanks than with a few $$$.

Another great one! 🙌 I was wondering why do we need to rasterize and trim so often and what it does... Thank you!
@tonycarretti287217 күн бұрын
Sorry that I didn’t explain the reason. It seems that if you don’t rasterize and then try to apply a live filter, it negates something up the chain. I found that my blending options would “disappear” when applying the guassian blur as a live filter. Had to go back and try it several different ways until it finally worked this way. Hope that helps!
@dronevideographyproduction17 күн бұрын
@@tonycarretti2872 Thanks for taking the time to explain it. This was my first time using the blending option boxes. I like how I was able to change the transparency of the text compare to the overlay which doesn't give me any opacity control. Looking forward to the next one!
