I can't believe it. The only thing that kept me from beating this game as a kid was that I didn't know you could shoot the gears for the bridges without electricity.

Malcolm's card opens the door in the Nublar basement so you can get Gennaro's card. Gennaro's card works on the Beach Shed elevator. Nedry's card opens the door to the master computer in the visitor center. Hammond's card unlocks a door in front of an elevator leading to the visitor center basement. Grant's card opens the door which leads to the secret tunnel on Raptor Pen B2. Wu's card opens a door near the master computer on the middle floor of the visitor center. It leads to the computer that gives you level 1 clearance. Level 1 clearance gives you access to a special computer on the ground floor of the Raptor Pen, so you can stop the ship from sailing. Arnold's card opens up a computer room on B2 of the ship, where you get level 2 clearance. This allows you to take the 2nd elevator to the lowest decks of the ship. Sattler's card allows you to go from the visitor center basement back down to the secret raptor tunnel....but it’s completely unnecessary and useless unless you cleared the ship before the Raptor pen (with no dino counter to help you!) Finally...Muldoon's card opens up the nerve gas room in the Northern Shed.

For anyone watching this in 2024, there's a patched ROM out there that adds save files to this game. The original didn't have it due to all of that data storage that would've been required at the time.

Wow, thank you so much for this comment. I'll tell you tho: this run is VERY beatable. It's not optimized in the slightest when it comes to movement and shooting. If you grind, you can easily get a time closer to 40 minutes or even below that. Go for it! If you need any info, messagem me here or hit me up on discord @shmupforlife. Thanks for watching!

lol I know, right? SNES Doom had the same problem. Mode 7 could fake a 3D enviroment but only to a certian point. They needed to narrow the FOV and create a frame in order to make the SNES Toaster-like processor run it at a blistering 15 FPS. Still impressive for the time, but it aged badly. Anyways, thanks for watching.

If one does not know anything about the game, it is easy to get lost and spend hours looking for key-cards. Nearly every key-card you find is useless in the building you occupy atm. Back-tracking into buildings where every floor looks the same, holy cow. This game is actually fun as hell. I would rank it in a top 10 or 20.

This game is so funny

This game remake (from the NES) greatly suffers from: 1. lack of save feature or a password system 2. this game is dying for an in-game map of the open field and interior areas 3. this is literally an open world game done poorly, the game starts and they set you off on your own; not asking for any lore but at the very least give the players definitive objectives so that they have a sense of direction. If you have not read the novel or watched the movies, nothing is explained, everything is so cryptic and you are playing blindfolded not knowing what is going on.
@shmupforlife_19102 жыл бұрын
Agreed. This game could have been A LOT better, but it's fun for what it was: a rental game you get for a weekend. I feel it's pretty enjoyable once you know what you have to do, but it is really confusing. 6 more months in development could have saved it. Anyway, thanks for watching!

I had no idea there were actually two spots that the t-Rex spawned. I know I tripped the music once for the second spot by standing in a certain spot, but the T-Rex never spawned. I guess it was because I didn’t walk into the right area.

Thanks! This game got waaaaay rushed to meet the movie deadline so this is as best as they could make it (not very much so as it turns out). But yeah, who needs maps and saves and passwords when you have the pain as the true motivator lol. Glad you enjoyed it.

How in the heck did you know all that was going to happen?? I'd have called TAS if you didn't mention it being original hardware, I'm guessing there's some sort of predictable pattern in craps but the event happening in blackjack right away too, just wow. Three very quick minutes to get that rich, if only! Lol
@shmupforlife_19102 жыл бұрын
Oh, we're 100% cheating lol. I'll explain: the speedrunning community for this game figured out that there's no real randomness on the dice rolls. What you get are 255 predetermined sequences of dice rolls that are decided the moment you start the new game or load the saves. So then it was just a matter of maping out the possible results in an absurd looking spreadsheet on google docs. It was a collective effort, but we were only looking for the sequences of results that worked better on the craps table. Makes sense? Check out the leaderboard page for this game on Speedrun.com for more info. I should probably explain that on the description right? Cool, thanks for the heads up and thanks for watching.
@noThankyou-g5c2 жыл бұрын
i checked the speedrun page briefly. how do you figure out what “seed” your on? I’m sure the answer is obvious. I just couldnt tell from looking at the spreadsheet. Or do you manipulate the save before the run to get the perfect seed ?
