I noticed that you increased the value of various capacitors on various boards. I understand the logic on power supplies, but worry that some of the amplifier and preamplifier caps might be finely tuned? Do you have any insight on this? Fabulous work.

I'm going to put a high quality mains input plug on mine, and get rid of the feeble mains cord. The plug wires are to be fixed with screws. Should I tin them first? Anything else to look out for? Thanks in advance (ps. I'll be doing the same to my MX-1)

Thats what im currently interested in. Like restoring paint lettering decals in general. My Sansui AU 717 has damaged/faded lettering on the volume dial...

Great Video. I also collect audio and have some interesting items. At 10:07 I recognize the type of large wire connections Sony used straight away. They are arcade cabinet video game type known as " Jamma" interfaces. Wow I have never seen them used in an audio amplifier like this. I recognized them straight away as I also collect arcade and video game material. They normally connect to PCB arcade circuit boards including the RGB screen signals, The Horizontal and vertical SYNC , 5V and common and ground connectors plus a few more inside the video game arcade cabinets to the main pcb which was the actual game itself back in the Day. You can buy them very easily some fully wired up. Super Cool.

Connor, you certainly know your craft. I've never seen such meticulous, methodical acuity along with the tips and tricks knowledge base you have acquired. Where did you learn to understand electronics and read schematics? How many years have you been doing this? I have never seen this level of understanding, care, and unparalleled love in the repair and restoration of vintage electronics. You are an excellent instructor. I will continue to watch your well-made videos and learn from a true master electronics technician. Thank you.

How do You clean the faceplate? Also, can you show the actual process when you reflow and deflux a circuit board. Thank you.

The level meter is something out of this world, especially for today's standards! That preamp must have costed a fortune, at the time!

I believe you have stated that the L-07c was more difficult and problematic. I would love to hear more about that or a video about how that went. I have all the new caps to do the rebuild but after hearing about the traces I’m pretty scared to start that job. The L-05m went quite easy thank goodness.

Just noticed the Monster Power HTS 360 power conditioner. I have one on my home theatre setup. Bought it back in 2009. Living in North Texas with our electrical storms it was a now brained.

Just laid my hands on one of these for not much $ - a real beauty of an amp. I'm a sucker for the low profile ones anyway, but other than a few rust spots on the case, the internals look low mileage and very clean. No discolored glue, offset as received at 1.5 and .5mv, and sounds just great. Not sure I want to touch it yet, but this video will be my guide for sure! Thanks!

I think you should reconsider using the AC inlet module as an AV outlet. It's not very safe....

Please excuse my curiosity but with all the parts you replaced, how much did this restoration cost? Amazing work sir. When I was in the USAF back in the late 70’s I worked in medical electronics and I was really interested in working on audio electronics but after my time in the USAF and working for a couple medical equipment manufacturers for a while I realized I didn’t have the temperament for it so I retrained into aircraft maintenance. After 23 years I retired and became fascinated with KZbin sites like yours. You have a rare talent. Where did you get your training?

Nice condition amplifier. But the THD spec is rather unimpressive.

Wow,for a vintage amp it’s in great condition. Clean,no scratches. Immaculate! I’d love to find one like that. I love Sansui audio from this era.

Do you have any recommendations for well designed vintage amplifiers? I am keen on the Kenwood L-08m monoblocks as I wish to hear the Sigma drive feature in action. Do you recommend class A over class AB? I would love to go down the vintage rabbit hole but I want to get just one good piece of equipment that can be easily maintained over the next few years and give me many hours of listening bliss. Appreciate your insights and your detailed videos - thank you so much for sharing your knowledge here!

Thanks! I’m just starting a restoration of the Sansui AU-717 amplifier, when I came across your video which is terrific. I have also been on Audio Karma viewing other restorations which are very good too. Yet, I really admire your attention to detail on the restoration of this amplifier, it is above and beyond most restorations I’ve seen. Would it be possible for you to share your BOM for the Sansui AU-717 amplifier restoration? I would gladly donate a stipend to the channel for its use.Thank you. Regards, Bob
