As far as i know you have to put it, let it go into the cracks and repeat the process after 30 minutes. You have to kee doing this until the product doesn't get absorbed anymore and just stays there. After this you have to wait 24h for it to cure.

Own a dog and a cat. Wife got the dog even though I didn't want it. They're the worst. Did you ever end up wearing it much? It is very cool, for teenage me in 1987. I'm kind of drooling over it, but I'm not sure I can pull it off pushing 50. I'm not sure about the dirt effect either, but I remember swatch watches and other stuff in those bright patterns from the 80's always ended up getting grubby exactly in that same way. Some videos I've watched, the guy would apply the chipex, rub it with the blending fluid, then if it's not good enough, he applied it again and repeated the process until he was happy. Then he did the final stage of polishing. His were not by any means perfect either, but it's better than a rusting hole (pardon the pun)

Ive used it on my black Kia Picanto. The main issue is not the product but the instructions. I got a fantastic result once I did a bit of research in how to do it properly. There's no short cuts. Also the repairs are invisible from a couple of metres away which is fine for the minimal effort imo. If you want a perfect result you have to rub it down with cutting compound and spray clearcoat on top like a professional would.

My chipex kit has just arrived so not used it yet, I'm pretty sure the instructions say to rub the blending solution in one direction, not round and round or crossvways as you did, but at least you were able to cover the bare metal metal. Maybe read and follow the instructions next time.
