First heard this song about 1979, I was 14. still remember the first time I heard it, and even better, still remember the first time I got to dance to it at the Casino, along with the Bellboys, was the track I was waiting for to get my confidence up and get up and do my first dance on the floor, I knew it so well. RIP Mr Thomas, even though you never knew it, I owe you so many wonderful memories.

I miss my musical partner and friend Eugene, but I am so glad that he got to experience the appreciation of the Northern Soul scene. As the Musical Director of the Drifters in the 70's, it was amazing to experience the UK's appreciation of Soul music; rarely played on USA radio comparatively.

it's weird, it makes no sense, it's insane! but for so many of us in Britain, this was our music as well!!!! as for the Drifters, all I can only say is, thank you sir, and if you're still in touch with them? thank them from so many of us as well, You Got To Pay Your Dues is just, up there! cheers

Actually, it was the late John Lennon who recorded "Stand By Me". He released the song on his "Rock and Roll" album.
