@@avitalsheva I took two semesters of Biblical Hebrew way back in college, so I’m having to refresh myself. But my girlfriend said she’d like to be able to read the original Hebrew text, so I’m doing this to catch her up so we can study it together.

Tough language, strange letter signs, you’ve got to be dedicated to learn it!

Cool ! Learn something every day. Would anyone know what would be considered the top 3 English translations of the TNC? Preferably with commentary.

I guess it depends a bit on what you're wanting out of your translation. The Robert Alter translation I showed has more of a focus on keeping the artistic and poetic spirit of the original text more than a strict, literal translation may. Not that the translation is wildly different, but he attempts to recapture some things that get lost in translation. Personally, I prefer having this translation for the spirit it was written in and then also a super literal translation for balance. An interlinear bible can be good for that.

@@plugnickle if you use an app like Duolingo or TinyCards, they have sections for you to learn the Hebrew alphabet. Once you have that down, you can start learning some common words!

Oh man, I don’t remember. That was a long time ago and the guy who was supposed to be moving with me ended up cancelling, so I never actually rented there.
