@artemisink5081 Hello! No. I haven't had that issue. Are you oiling in the little oil tube's that go to the center of your wheel?

If you hold the gauge upright the picot (shuttle) thread lays along both sides of the gauge as you make the picot. If you use it flat the picot (shuttle) thread only lays along one side of the gauge - the 'ring' thread lays along the other. One puts a lot more shuttle thread into the picot and that's why the picots are different sizes. Upright (tall orientation) gauge makes a tall picot, flat (low orientation) gauge makes a short one, comparatively speaking. Whether you use them upright or flat if you don't keep your picot thread going straight across the gauge every time they won't be consistent either, even if used the same way. You always want to use the 'shortest possible path' for the orientation you are using. Diagonals are longer and it's very hard to do them on exactly the same angle every time. Once you can do that really consistently you are so proficient you may as well do them 'by eye'.
@ATwistedPicot2 ай бұрын
That's definitely why I talk about the various ways to make picots and why you might want to use different gauges.

So this pattern is killing me. Do you close each round instead of a continuous round? and when it says continue in this manner do you continue only round 4 or do like 2 sc and then 4 single crochet in the next 4 stitches?

Im sorry if you mentioned this in the video and i missed it, but ive been trying to figure out the difference between the comb and the gauge. Do they do basically the same thing and people just have their preference or are they good for different things?
@ATwistedPicot6 ай бұрын
Well. The picot comb makes it much faster and easier to make graduated picots or picots of different sizes. With the gauges you have to replace the size each time. But other than that it's more about preference. I like the comb better because it fits in my hand better and I find it easier to hold.

I started my bobbin lace journey using clothes pins that I got from Dollar Tree to see if it was something I wanted to continue with. Since I get straw for my garden, I used that to stuff my cookie pillow. I am going to head back to Dollar Tree for a pool noodle to give that a try now. I want to make lace for my blouses.

I'm sure there's still mint. Mint does not go away without concerted effort. What do you do with the droppings? Add to compost?
@ATwistedPicot7 ай бұрын
Chicken droppings just hang out wherever, but I also compost them and use the shavings between the beds to help with making a walkway. The rabbit poop gets mixed in and I also have a compost bump started so I can plant some berry canes or bushes. Haven't quite decided yet. Lol
