Doubt many people gave a sh*t 8 years ago about this, given what interest rates were in 2015 and all. Funny how recent rising interest rates, as well as social media, have educated people so fast on this phenomenon. Banks and the market were pretty hush hush about it, too🤔 Of course, now that the cat's out of the bag and people realize they no longer have to settle for what banks call interest rates all the manipulators can do now is talk sideways about T-bills, the government, etc. When ironically enough they couldn't get on their knees fast enough for that same government in total bliss from 2008-2022😏

LOL… Ponzi in secretary of Treasury under 46th president! We’ve never seen MMT the ‘Magic Money Tree’ (from academia) used in reality before.

So the non competitive bidders always end up getting the highest rate of the competitive bidders? Why have a non competitive bidding?

Now, what if the amount of noncompetitive bids exceeds the total offering? Will that result in 0% coupon rate bonds being issued? 🤣

When you borrow money, you have to repay it. You can't keep having deficits and reveling in the short term economic stimulus you get from the extra spending that year without considering what taxes you will have to impose later to pay off the debt. If you print extra money instead of raising taxes to pay for the extra spending, you get rampant inflation like in the USA right now. The spending from debt isn't free. You either have to raise taxes later or print money later, and neither a good idea to be forced into because you thought extra stimulus was nice to have. Thats like spending money on a new car on your credit card without considering how you're gonna pay that back

OMG this video is hilarious. I had to watch this for my Finance class this semester. That little kid not only is super smart and way too excited to learn about Treasuries, but both him and the grandma have British accents and the kid has the voice of a 50-year-old man.

We borrow $ from other Countries! We pay on that annually. If we default on our loan that would Not be good for the country or the world. We sell treasury bonds in exchange for securities.

We need a surplus to pay off debts. We are how many trillions of dollars in debt? You’re also not thinking about inflation. This isn’t a very well thought out opinion

Liked the touch of humor.. “are the auctions communist then?” Lol. But you missed out riffing on the most important lessson, which is that USGov no longer needs to sell Treasuries since moving to floating exchange rates in the 1970’s, the Gov debt could be left alone as reserves + cash, let the FFR go to 0%, no need for T bonds, they are an anachronism, a total waste of human effort, those dealers should be doing something more useful for society.

Wouldn’t it be better for the government to have surplus for certain number of years so it can pay off all the debt then it can balance its budget?
