If someone is running the audio, use some hand jestures to let them know that you can't hear yourself. Even at church we use to have guys "ride" the sound board instead of leaving the mics cracked a bit they shut them off and then if you needed it really quick they'd be late.... FRUSTRATING! Those are the things that make me not play with certain groups and stuff. They want a sax, but don't know how to mix it in. So, I don't bother. Post up on FB or something where you're at. Good luck!
