If the lid doesn't close how do you change the setting on the ballbearing ring? I have read that somebody did it but didn't specifically elaborate about it. I'm afraid that I will brake it. Is it a clockwise or counter thread? What instruments are suggested to use. Looks very tight to me. Thanks for anybodies advice!

Idk if it’s still a problem for you just twist it slightly though with your hand and adjust the line up of the cap.

Piece of crap. I got one about a month ago from Urban EDC. The lid won’t stay shut and it’s not water proof. And the fluid will not stay in it a year....maybe 3 weeks at most. It’s way over priced for a piece of Japanese crap. It gets hot as hell and doesn’t strike consistently plus the flame is tiny. So everything you look for in a lighter you are not getting with this thing. It’s nice looking, but that’s it. I use my lighter daily and I’m going back to my zippo. It’s way less money AND it’s a way better lighter. Ya.....you need to fill it every week but I guess if I want something that functions properly that’s what I’ll have to put up with. Unless I spring for a DuPont or Dunhill. So disappointed. Urban EDC is useless also. No help on a thing that cost me 150 Canadian. Guess it’s going into a drawer to be forgotten about.

WORST experience ever with a manufacturer so far. My Douglas Field S came defective from the factory. The lid wouldn't stay close and always popped open. That was an issue with a tiny ball bearing securing the cap. After several tries, All I had as a response from the seller was that the lighter was just fine and the problem was with me. Horrible customer service to say the least. Mine sits in a drawer, useles, afetr two monts of light use. I cannot say anything positive about this brand as I found myself talking with a dishonnest person who didn't not want to take ANY responsibilities for a defective item. On mmy side, I paid with real non§defective money and just received a piec of garbage for it. Thank you , but, no thanks.....

Hello...I have a Douglas Field Lighter S and I’m having a problem with the wick getting singed and then just smoldering instead of having a regular flame. Any idea what could be causing this? I put in a brand new wick from Douglas, but it’s still doing the same thing.

Great idea on the makeshift nut for the bolt or screw. I think that if a person had some kind of oil or grease on hand, if they dipped the bolt or screw into it first, then wrapped the Instamold around it, it might come off easier once it's set. I've ordered some of this to try making a firearm holster instead of using Kydex. It seems that this stuff would not create any fumes or outgassing (though I might be wrong). If the Instamold is rolled out flat with a rolling pin (or similar item), then flattened evenly by using a book or wood block, you might end up with the equivalent of a heat-softened Kydex sheet that could be wrapped around a knife or firearm to make a sheath or holster. That's what I plan to try once the Instamold arrives. The great thing is, you can make this stuff any color you want by adding pigment, so it does not have to be white if you don't want it to stand out. I also saw a vid in which someone used a pipe, put a blob of Instamold onto the end of the pipe. They blew into the pipe (the way a glassblower would) and the instamold expanded into a hollow balloon shape, which, in a pinch, could carry water.

This is nice, but not 80 bucks nice. This is 40 bucks nice all day long, even 50 sure why not, maybe. Not 80. Not 70. Not even 60. I can get an original Imco for like 20 bucks, and an imco beats this in terms of design and function all day long. This holds the fuel better and is water proof, batter made maybe. Looks batter? Personal opinion. And that's of cause just 100% subjective. That's what its worth to me personally, it might be worth more or less to you, and that is 100% valid as well. Its just something to take into consideration. You can get this for 80 dollars, OR you can get an IMCO 6700 for 20... and they go even cheaper sometimes. Down to 15. Do you need a lighter that is waterproof? No you WANT it? Go for it. And I'd like to have this as well, but for a more Reasonable price tag. Reasonable to me. Personally. This is an awesome lighter. The Douglass, that is.
@deadviper5965
@deadviper5965 8 жыл бұрын
well youre right, but you have to remember that this is all hand-made (well you know what i mean, hand-machined) so that busts out the price from 30-40 to maybe 50-55. then theres the extra caps that are used in the lighter to store fluid and the extra flint, also hand-made, extra ~5 bucks and over that theres the added comfort of non-evaporating fuel due to the closed design, which is maybe like, 5 bucks more, and from that its just designer crap. still worth around 60 bucks or so

I think that the O-ring does melt/warp a little bit when you let the lighter run for a while. I've had one for a month so far and mine closes funny now lol, but I assume as it continues to melt and warp, it will form back into shape when you close it again

Is this the small or large one? I understand one is none, but its also none if they are in the same container (in a way), you have a lot of redundancy in there. Like maybe one on your person and one in your bag or something would be more beneficial. a couple small whistles would be useful, one for a partner to make sure if you do part ways its easier to reunite. Super glue? I wouldnt really trust that little flimsy saw to do much. Not trying to hate, this is great useful info! The straws and heat shrink tube are awesome.

Thanks for the feed back I do carry most of those items as well in my kits I use a tier system. This is something I leave in my pocket or bag and never use. This would be a last resort items. I normally give my survival partner a walkie talkie so we don't have to whistle out Morse code LOL. Ill shoot another video with my second tier system this week which is items I use often and its attached to my persons at all times. Which this box is inside of that bag as well. Again thanks for the feed back always looking for new ideas. Oh yeah small or large what?
