Hosay专门为管乐团所创作的一首幻想式的序曲，描写了一个现代的美国人穿越时空，在古代波斯王国展开了一段狂野又美妙的爱情故事：男人突然发现他身处在波斯的宫廷花园，身旁环绕着雄伟的建筑、大型的大理石凋像，还有一些从更早的文明流传下来的美丽艺术品。他转身之后，在满载鲜花的花园裡看到一位美丽的波斯姑娘，两人都感到似曾相识，一见锺情，很快就坠入爱河。然而，波斯宫廷禁止外人进入，他在宫廷士兵的追杀下，极度悲伤地告别了波斯姑娘，逃出了波斯王国。 James L. Hosay把这部作品献给他的老婆，他说：「她为这种充满异国情调和富有想像力的作品提供了灵感。」波斯序曲总共分成四大部分，第一部分的快板描写了宏伟的波斯帝国以及嘈杂热闹的波斯市集；第二部分则是轻柔的慢板，描写主角以及女主角的相遇，第叁部分是紧张的行板，最后则是重複第一段的快板。 James L. Hosay 是美国知名管乐作曲家，1959 年出生于美国田纳西州 Nashville。高中毕业后，进入美国军方音乐学院 ( U.S. Armed Forces School of Music ) 进修，并于美国陆军乐队 担任小号演奏。 1997 年，自美国陆军乐队退役后，于故乡从事作曲工作。
