Probably the only old school game that lived up to the film and it's name. Most games that try to live up to film titles have nothing to do with the films they base the game on.

One of those titles, that you would just load up to enjoy the intro screen with it's music.

I'm not sure, is something more climatic in the game history EVER than this? When I see this picture with all these soldiers silhouettes and then this inscription "THE FIRST CASUALTY OF WAR IS INNOCENCE” I think of all these people who died in this pointless war.

Where is level 3 music? It was by far my most favourite track in the whole game.

I never actually played level 3 when I was a kid as our pirate copy on cassette would crash loading each time and never took the time to complete it since! If you search for Platoon C64 Longplay the first result has the whole game including level 3 and the boss at the end.

8-Bit Beast My mistake! The actual music I enjoyed from Platoon was the final level. Since watching your play, I got inspired and downloaded a SID player and also acquired HVSC together with it. 😊

Fun fact, this title screen was ported to Spectrum 128k in a version cracked by Uslessoft, which also enabled this tune in the Spectrum version since it was disabled by a bug in the game itself. I think a .TAP version of that is available on ZX Museum What was interesting was how the port was made. A custom made Spectrum 256k (hehe) was interfaced with a C64 and the video output of the C64 was converted into a bitmap directly in the vidoe memory of the custom Spectrum machine. Then dumped out and used in the Demo / Intro.

Ya, there's a channel called Arcade MusicTribute that has a remix of this and a lot of other music from old games on the Amiga etc.
