This film was based on two books put together, but I've only read one of those, The Marvelous Land of Oz. It was the second of the series, but did not include Dorothy, but instead followed a boy named Tip, who had been raised by the witch Mombi. I loved the ending, but it might be bothersome to some young boys.

Love this since kindergarten for 38 years and I dug Fiona victory and Sophie ward as they were first celebrity crushes. It’s not a sequel to the Oz movie from 39, it’s more true to the Oz books

Faces of Death had a lot of fake scenes. The 3 part Traces of Death was far more graphic. THEYNC is pretty bad.💀

I loooove this movie! It’s so clever with its tongue in cheek take on the serial killer thriller. As soon as we saw the 4,623 SWAT trucks barrel down the street we picked up on the tone. Sadly, Saleka can’t act but gladly Hartnett soon overtakes her with his over the top killer crackup. We bought this on VOD, preordered the dvd. It is such a fun ride! M Knight promised a funny playful treatment of a dark character study and we think he aced it.

Another great Conrad Veidt performance is "The Man Who Laughs." The character he plays, Gwyplain, is the basis for the original drawings of the Joker.

@thegraveyardclubpod9 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! That's a solid list right there, Wes Craven is def one of my favorites
Different approach to the tale. Terrence Fisher also seems to be on top form, with the usual precise framing intercut with some quicker cut scenes than normal and even some rapid zooms.Cushing once again is magnificent, especially when he shows Frankenstein’s exasperation at his aides not being anywhere near as clever as he is. His Frankenstein is almost a variation on Sherlock Holmes, a person so intellectually superior to those around him that it pains him that everybody else seems so thick by comparison. Thorley Walters shines in probably his best Hammer role, even though the part is rather like Dr. Zargo in Rasputin The Mad Monk. He plays especially well some moments where he seems to have a little crush on Christina. And Susan Denberg was such a beauty. Can't quite put my finger on it but, there was just something to her look.

Sidney Hayers directed Burn, Witch, Burn, as well as several Avengers episodes, including "The Cybernaughts." I've seen Horrors of the Black Musium. It's an interesting premise that would have been better without the potion that turns Michael Gough's assistant green.

Awesome review! I consider this to the grandfather of the “found footage” genre of film. I personally love this film because of the message I interpreted from it. In my opinion, this film gives a great insight into the dark side of humanity and how when we think we are superior to someone else, that gives us a right to do whatever we want. The documentary crew believed that the tribes people were nothing more than “savages”, which lead them to do whatever they wanted since they “weren’t people” in their eyes. The actual animal killing in the film is uncalled for though, I will agree on that. This film introduced me to the Italian cannibal sub genre of horror/exploitation that was very common at this time. This film is definitely not for everyone and I would only recommend it if you are a hardcore horror fan that wants something new.

This is just as good as HOD. David Peel holds his own and everyone else is great esp Peter Cushing! Lee didn't do the sequal becoz Dracula was technically destroyed in the end of the first movie so they had to start fresh. Plus Lee didn't want to get typecast at the time, but we all know how that turned out!
