Do you know of any modifications I could make if I wanted a higher, more comfortable seat to sit in as opposed to the bench style seat that comes with it? I want more of a chair with back support if possible

Great videos Freddie, I've just purchased an e rider and savage gear electric outboard, I come up to see family and fish every year in my motorhome and look for new places to fish with easy access and parking. Got a few spots already but looking for new places west coast and north as the family live east coast 🤣. The e rider looks stable but how do you find it it choppier water . Any tips much appreciated and keep up the good blogs.

In America if your vessel is being propelled by a motor you have to have it registered with the dmv. And you probably need insurance.
@pacosouviron1758 ай бұрын
i tought you had an electric motor in the e ridder, what made you change it to the gas motor? I also have the e ridder and have an 40lb minkota motor. Is it worth it to change? i thought the gas motors werent really worth it unles you use them very regularly, because of maintenance. great video!
@freddieirvineangling30668 ай бұрын
Yeah, I had the gas motor before I had the electric. I've had it for years, in fact, so every now and again, I would take the gas motor instead of the electric just to turn it over. The maintenance is very easy on them. But normally I use the electric I fresh water and use the gas in the salt water

The only thing your missing is an autoboat spot lock gps system for that trolling motor well actually you would have to check the list of trolling motor compatibility. My buddy just installed one on his kayak and it turns the boat into a hands free system no more messing with anchors or power poles.

Hi and thanks for the video. I’m running a setup very close to what you got going on there. Only difference is the motor, mine is Minn Kota Endura Max. The Minn Kota has PWM controlled variable speed thrust and the PWM causes issues with the Helix by introducing a lot of interference when not running it at full speed i.e. the PWM duty cycle is not 100%. Do you have interference issues with your motor and does it have the PWM controlled speed setting? So far the only way I’ve been able to solve the issue is by using separate battery for the Helix but that’s yet another battery I need to lug around and remember to charge. I really liked the Y-splitter option and had it made exactly like yours but the interference is always there if I run the Helix from the same battery as the motor. Happy fishing!

I have a question. How fast were you able to go with the Suzuki 2.5 hp engine?

Roughly around 6 or 7mph. I prefer the electric motor but the suzuki is good for covering more distance on big waters 😉

Just subscribed because after over 45 years fishing for pike it is still refreshing to see how others tackle the problems of mobility on the water and access to remote lakes. Besides various worn out bellyboats and dozens of leaky neopren waders, I do most fishing from a 12ft Porta-Bote that I bought new in 2005. No complaints but can not be launched by 1 person unless the water is directly accessible by car. Hence I am always on the prowl for new ideas... The kayak looks superb but when adding the several mounts with screws: did You have to use sealant every time or are there designated areas on this kayak?
@freddieirvineangling306611 ай бұрын
Great to see all the endless options to get out on the water mate, I've went from belly boats to inflatable kayaks to now a hard kayak and the hard kayak eclipses the rest by a mile. I've not used any sealants because the bolts I've used are self tapping so I'm hoping the threads are so tight it makes it virtually impossible for water to enter. However time will tell mate 😉

Hi mate. Just found your channel and gave you a sub. As you will see from my channel I’m a kayak angler, but very keen to get a float tube this year. I’m going to buy the same one you have, but I’m very keen to get the same mounts you use here for the transducer to connect to the tube, and the mount you have for the finder to connect it to the tube. Is that an extra attachment you have on the tube to attach the fish finder to it. Cheers mate. John.
@freddieirvineangling30662 жыл бұрын
Hi buddy, you won't be disappointed in this float tube, yeah all the mounts are railblaza. They do a kit so you get the finder mount and transducer arm at once. All you'll need after the kit is a couple of the railblaza rib mounts. Happy float tube fishing😎🤙🎣
@fishinglad16442 жыл бұрын
@@freddieirvineangling3066 thanks pal, I don’t suppose you have a link to the finder kit do you? I’ve already got a good bit of raliblaza gear in my kayak too. Bought it. It's stable, looks resistant. Had a faulty valve on the floor. I am waiting for resolution on that. It's heavy. It's not easy to fold. From compartment is very low so it's useless Because of the rigid front and the rigid back it's not easy to fold so it will always occupy a massive amount of space. It's really a downside because it's not very "portable" mostly because of not being more foldable rather then the weight
