Why cant Anyone really see the true meaning of this song especially in this day. 10 years ago he was screaming about the S and A in the music with the Alluminous parts of the Otty. Clearly indicated on the pin up board. It is the protagonist in the story. He is the person that can now see the overwhelming mistake he has made by is own pride by accepting the protagonist’s deal. He trys to make his own excuse blaming his “ADD”. How does he get out of this? Only one way out. By his choice or theirs. They now own him. “Sail” to the light. This song, from my pov, is a person with AD(H)D finally bursting and letting someone know everything about his mental space. Some of the lines are things people say to him; "maybe I'm a different breed", "maybe in not listening", and some are things he says to himself; "maybe I should cry for help", "maybe I should kill myself". Repeating SAIL is a way of letting his mind spit out all his suppressed feelings by letting his mind 'sail' and saying a bunch of things, also because the song writer didn't want to write a bunch of internalized symptoms of AD(H)D.

There was no, zero, understanding of someone being stuck and isolated in their own head back in the days, (60's) self isolating away from family, school mates, teachers, etc. Everyone saw you as a disconnected whack-job, ripe for the looney bin.
