Cool setup, but my big concern would be waking up on a winter morning, and those roof slides are frozen.

Doesn't fit with a rear storage setup that's utilizing arms that wrap around the rollbar, those storage platforms that create a "shelf"
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
not without some modification to the plate. I had one guy who took. the plate and cut the rear side of it so he was left iwth basically 1/2 a plate because the rear storage system took up the rest and that worked for him. Or you can use the bags sans plates all together but that really reduces the weight you can put in them.

I have an idea. I want your thoughts on this idea. Take a 2 gallon metal bucket,or make a container to set over the flame. And fill the container with dirt. The dirt is heated to give off radiant heat. Maybe this hot dirt could be moved inside your tent to give off heat
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
not sure how long dirt would keep heat since its not solid.. rocks would hold heat better than dirt but the problem with that is the propane pit doesn't tend to push a lot of heat actually no heat out the bottom only the sides so it would be hard to super heat the rocks to the point where they would be beneficial in the tent. Then of course you would also need a secure way to place the rocks where they wouldn't destroy the bottom of your tent. Best option if you are not on a motorcycle would be have a buddy heater or just a good sleeping bag in my opinion.

Hi a bit late to the channel - I’ve had the billies on my GS for 5 years and in California strobe mode. Never bothered to change the setting however - I would like the lights to be ON just like the stock brakes ie mode 2 but when I turn on the bike I don’t see the billies lighting up (bike is in neural) and the stock lights are on however when I brake then it does glow up … am I missing something obvious ?

off hand i can't think of the setting that is not right. best to call Clearwater and have them walk you through it. they have lifetime phone support so i'm sure they will help you!

When it's closed, no humidity or air can enter through the roof. But, when lifted and slided forward, there will be a gap between the slideout and the car's roof. How do you prevent the entry of humidity or cold/hot air into the interior ?!? Thanks...
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
well generally when the camper is in camping position, the power to the vehicle is off so i'm literally just camping like i would in a tent. so all ambient humidity/cold/hot applies like if you were in a tent. Only thing i have ever done for temp control is lower the sides for ventilation or in winter i have used a heating pad (like the ones made for a back) and slide it in the sleeping bag and run it off the jackery. Thats more than sufficient in even the coldest weather. once you close it and seal it back up, the tent does continue to get enough ambient air so as not to get moldy as i dont have any issues like that even after now years of use. They have since gone under. I truly hope someone picks up the idea or a similar one before my jeep wears out and i want to buy a new one. as it is i may drive this one forever lol.

Ours cracked in half due to Jeep flex. Not well built. Took it off and trashed it and put a soft top back on the Jeep.

WOW!!! That's the first I have heard from any other owners on the issue. That's a lot of jeep flex!! not even sure how your oem top could have flexed that much.

What is a thickness of plywood ?
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
i've since gone with goosegear to plate the whole back but if my memory serves i went with 1/2". I'm certain it wasn't 3/4" as that woudl be too thick and 1/4" would be far too flexible.

@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
i have had a lot of questions about it too. really sorry about that. would require a completely different design due to where the rollbars are located. the rollbar would come down directly in front of the opening of the bag. i am working on a rear storage option that will hopefully work with both 2 and 4 door.

What size bags does it take? 5 gallon, 10 gallon, 40 gallon?
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
the bags i'm using i dont even think are 5 gallon. they literally just have to have an opening the size of the toilet seat. but in a pinch a regular kitchen bag would do just know that it will need to go into a heavier bag to keep smell from being an issue. the ones you buy at REI should work fine for this unit.

One question. Does it for example work with the "Round" highbeambar over the windscreen? or is it a bit to tight?
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
not likely because the whole unit slides forward over the windscreen and would hit the bar. ive never been a fan of light bars as they light up the hood and make it harder to see. the company that made this went under so you cant get them now anyway sadly.

Nah, not for me. I understand that it packs down easy but even I don’t think it’s worth all that to make to have some fire. And it costs over $350 and with very bad reviews. I use ignik amo can in the summer and big 20” in the winter.
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
yeah i totally get that.. the Ignik ammo can is cheaper for sure and puts out the heat. only reason to get this one over others would be its compact size.

What happened with your drone that you had to recover it? I have one and don't want that issue.
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
hard to not have it happen as you never know when it might. the display video froze and since it was really low light i couldn't tell stuff wasn't moving particularly the tree line. So it looked like everything was fine. i was still flying fast because i was trying to get over to where i wanted to shoot. while the screen was frozen it encroached on the tree line and regained video motion right when it hit a tree. it was just a fluke issue.

I’d put my clothes for the next day in a soft vinyl plush back pack & use the back pack as a pillow, laying on the flat back side of it! Then you got a place for your clothes that serves as a pillow & all in one, a space saver! But that’s just me!! Knowing a camper of any gets tight, & I just think forward of saving space!!
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
always an option and if you are out every now and then its a good one. when you live in it weeks on end, having some conveniences makes it a lot more livable.

Ok I’ll think to opt for a hatchet or something similar that’s better!! The ursa looks rather small anyway!!
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
these guys went out of business unfortunately. what i'd like to see Ursa do is put a hinge system on theirs so it would not be just a clam shell but give you foot room as well. i hope someone takes the concept of this one and makes an improved version. i really like mine and it still works great. So many want one they just didn't last quite long enough before ground swell could keep them going.
@JennyLong-nj5xe6 ай бұрын
The air mattress issue in an ursa?? What if you deflate it before lowering canopy’s hardtop & closing?
@aMAYSingLife10 күн бұрын
you can totally do that and a lot of guys do apparently. the issue is you enter the ursa from the middle of the mattress so it makes it all but impossible to enter from the inside and use a mattress like that unless you get a single wide mattress and slide to the side. that works as long as you are not a couple. otherwise, you have to enter from the outside which really defeats a lot of the benefit in my opinion. i suppose you could use 2 exped's in the Ursa so you could slide one on top of the other during entry from below, replace the panel then slide the airpad back over.. that might work.
