Can tell Pujun is a very sincere and humble guy. I can relate pretty well on what he shares. I am an entrepreneur working on offering true health solution without causing an arm and a leg. I literally overhaul a person's body for degenerative diseases to anti-aging. And it's been challenging founding the right investors up to now.

Moved from India to US in 2022 for masters. Applied for 3000+ jobs over 2 years and only now, I got 40+ interviews and understood how broken the system is. As the incentives are so high - higher than enterprises deals, I'm building this startup with 800k revenue at the doorstep - context: I have 100k student loans and I'll have to leave the country if I don't have a job or not make this successful. Racing against the time now and got a VC invite

Anecdotally I see more bots and toxicity here on KZbin than X these days. Either way, network effects are an extremely powerful force that people often underestimate. Sure, some people will stay on Bluesky, but many will return to X for the same reason that many of the founders and other tech people who left SF during the pandemic went back after. It wasn’t because the city is nice to live in - it’s because of network effects in the startup world.
@damianm-nordhorn116
@damianm-nordhorn116 24 күн бұрын
@foundingjourney People will only use and contribute to a network, if it's worth it, if it provides QUALITY contacts. SF/California does that (no matter how much right-wing folk bitch about Cali and run around telling everybody in SF there's hordes homeless, feces and piles of used syringes on every corner, without even knowing the place; same folks by the way that don't get that Detroit is long past its days of horror and actually vibrant and booming) and Bluesky seems to provide the same. And you probably ditd consider how much the SF analogy disproves your point. You don't need to be in touch with EVERYBODY, with MASSES of people. You need to be in touch with the right people. Maybe you want to think about it again, instead of scrambling to find arguments to back your original statement.
@callmehouck
@callmehouck 24 күн бұрын
@@damianm-nordhorn116 Those things about SF are actually true though. I walked to work over used syringes and feces for 3 years. Got tired of it and left. It was a daily occurrence. So, they're correct. Haven't been to Detroit so can't comment on it. As far as network effects go, yes, as I said, some people who find their tribe will stick around on Bluesky. But the majority who try it will go back to X. We saw this during the last "exodus" so it is already observably true.

AI has not gotten to a "good" level to threaten their jobs. Solving specific, new, and novel problems entirely on it own is not something ANY current AI is approaching. The biggest true benefit it offers is raising the minimum capabilities of the lowest performers.
@callmehouck
@callmehouck 27 күн бұрын
And what happens if everyone on the team suddenly has increased capabilities and productivity? The answer is: less need for as many engineers. AI does not threaten all engineering jobs, but it lets companies do more with fewer. So, yes, their jobs are threatened.
@dingoatemybaby9739
@dingoatemybaby9739 26 күн бұрын
@@callmehouckif everyone became equally proficient at their job and with the equal numbers to other positions, then the answer isn’t less engineers. The answer is a greatly increased productivity and implementation of new ideas while simultaneously trialling others. Get your head out of your ass with the AI fad, it’s not what you think.
@callmehouck
@callmehouck 25 күн бұрын
@@dingoatemybaby9739 Hopefully companies do see it that way, but the more likely outcome is that the bureaucracy and red tape at many companies leads to them looking to cut costs instead - since unlocking that additional productivity will be next to impossible. It's more likely that the productivity gains are spread across a larger number of small companies, many of which will be started by the employees that big companies short-sightedly lay off. So, yes, the future you're talking about COULD and SHOULD be what happens, but the companies will likely get in their own way instead and birth a new generation of entrepreneurs instead.
