OMG the bass totally cancels out when playing in normal stereo speakers, at first I thought you were just removing the bass, but then tried playing that part on the headphones, on headphones I still hear the bass. Totally trippy!!!

Fun fact, this is how active noise cancelation works. a lil mic listens to your surroundings and plays the same audio back to you just in time to cancel out the real noise from the outside. "Scientist" and "engineer" are just lame words for "mage" and "wizard".

What most KZbin uploaders fail to mention is that open back is for wider sound stage and closed backs offer much better bass. No matter how much KZbinrs lie about open backs having bass, they actually don't.

Thanks. I would like to use an analog mixer with tape, for a jam and also to record on tape and then send tape recording to the computer but, if it also sends direct output to computer, that would be cool, but if not, that's fine, because I want to get the tape sound, mixed or unmixed in the machine, to the computer and would love a video on that. While an interface is the fastest for recording and mixing on the computer, it's not the sound quality and dynamics I want to work with, even if I mix on the computer. Also, can we send a mixer sound from tape or directly to an interface and then to the computer?

I was pretty surprised that the edge Tom mics were a bit more flat and balanced sounding than the center pointed ones. I would have assumed that edge mics had a lot more low end sustain but they seemed to be a lot tighter

If you wire a speaker with left+ to one terminal and right+ to the other you will get vocal in the center of both speakers but music in stereo, its a pseudo 3D sound effect, I wired up my car system like that in the 90s

Ive heard that if you connect two speakers in reverse of each other you'll end up getting silence because they both cancel each other out. I was hoping you'd demonstrate that in this video. Connecting two speakers in reverse of each other and putting a microphone between them.

You missed an opportunity to present a groove with two different mic placements, eg mics close, pointed at rims, distant overheads vs mic pointed at centers, pulled back with close overheads.

I'm just starting my attempt at being a REAL KZbinr, and currently have the Sm58 with a pop filter. It's pretty good. It sounds a million times better than my old Sennheiser headset microphone, and Julian Krausse (on YT) has an equalizer preset for the SM57 to sound very similar to the Sm7b. It's not the same microphone, but I found it helps. Of course, my goal is to get the SM7b, and I plan for it to be my reward for 1k subs. It's out of my budget, unless I finance it, and while I'm not opposed, I have not proven to myself that I have what it takes to really do the YT thing full-time, and $400 is a lot to spend. While I personally prefer the look of the RE20 over the SM7b, and I prefer that it's slightly less common on KZbin, I know my voice is fairly hollow, and truly believe the SM7b is the right solution, much to my chagrin. Thanks for the review and commentary!

What a great video. The comparisons were perfect. If I have to nitpick (this is the internet after all) it would be that the snare is dampened by the wallet and floortom with…oh what do you call them…you know what I mean. Sure, it’s not “cheating” but ringing drums are going to present some challenges when it comes to unwanted sounds bleeding into the mics. Anyway. Thanks for the video :)

I thought that the sound was a bit fuller out of A - a bit more definition throughout the range, and especially in the mids. A bit. They both sounded pretty solid to me.

6:12 This is actually how active noice cancellation (ANC) works. Your earbuds or headphones have microphones which capture the noise. A chip inside the headphone inverts the sound so your ears cancel it out.

I cannot seem to find a clear answer on Reddit, etc. I want to see if networking computers would be of benefit in terms of secondary computers hosting effects and synths so I get more plugins running at once. Is this feasible? Yeah yeah, build a powerful computer, etc. but what if I keep yesterdays beast and have it support the new beast?
