John Denver (31 de diciembre de 1943 - 12 de octubre de 1997), nacido como Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., fue un cantautor estadounidense de Folk y músico de Folk Rock que fue uno de los artistas con mayores ventas de la década de los 70’s. En vida, grabó y publicó unas 300 canciones, de las cuales aproximadamente la mitad fueron escrita por él, y fue el poeta laureado de Colorado. Las canciones de Denver estaban impregnadas de un profundo y duradero parentesco con el mundo natural. Canciones como "Take me home, country roads", "Leaving on a jet plane", "Thank God I'm a country boy" y "Rocky Mountain High" son populares en todo el mundo. A menudo cantaba y escribía canciones populares sobre el estilo de vida occidental, la condición humana y el planeta Tierra; en 1977 fue nombrado poeta laureado de su estado natal, Colorado.
