That’s an infomercial without any evidence. I have a Daikin altherma 3 heat pump and here are the problems about validating the statements contained in this ad. The Daikin is supplied with an MMI, which is the user interface unit. One of the features is the information section. This supposedly enables you to see energy consumed ( input) and energy produced. This is crucial in determining the COP or SCOP over time. However this is seriously flawed. Moreover Daikin seem to be happy with this state of affairs. So what’s the problem. Well firstly it doesn’t actually report the energy used, secondly it doesn’t report the energy produced. When it does report something it’s rounded to a whole kWh. The information screen has 3 sections , for hot water, heating and total. But the total, which should be the sum of the other two, isn’t . Moreover often the data is shown as being different days. So there is no way of calculating the cop, no idea of calculating if you are actually reaping any benefits. What is very frustrating is that the heat pump itself must be reporting this information, because there are a number of add on products people can buy and implement which suck the informa out of the heat pump and report it. So why can’t the manufacturer do this. Why can’t they supply a working, accurate information tool which would let those customers who want to assess the performance be able to do that. Moreover the ONECTA app is equally unhelpful, presque useless. The only thing I can derive of any use if the outside temperature. The information on this tool is even more scarce that on the MMI, ( which I assume is the source for the ONECTA app). Though given that the information which is generated is all at the same time, inconsistent, incomplete and incorrect , I guess it doesn’t matter because it’s useless and misleading. And Don’t take my word for it. Daikin actually say that. Daikin, I see you don’t reply to any of the observations on this comment section, but I’d be happy to have a dialogue with you, to help you bring a decent product to market that addresses all the problems of your existing product.

The problem is that the MMI unit only reports in 1 kw chunks, it doesn’t report partial and the same with the ONECTA app. Also it doesn’t report the produced energy consistently. Moreover the total figures are frequently NOT the sum of its 2 parts. Daikin should take a look at the loop app. See how a quality organisation produce an app that really is useful. There is no way I can calculate my COP from data that is incomplete, partial and full of errors. Talking with other folks on user groups this seems a common problem and one which Daikin seem unwilling to address.

The only way to get an accurate COP is to install both heat metering and electrical metering separately to the unit

Yeah, let's go low carbon together, the rich as well as the poor, united as ever hand in hand, sharing everything we have to make the world a better place and when tomorrow comes, we'll waken up to find it was all a pipe dream, ah! scripted philosophies, don't you just love 'em? How much did you get to advocate that Michaela?

Daikin sucks! Having problems with the unitary system for over a year. Thermostat is worthless. It’s an on/off switch at best. So regretting this purchase. Their support for customers is a referral to local dealers…the company that installed the system and can’t get it working! I should’ve bought GE saddle inverted AC’s for 4 rooms. Half the cost and works just as good. A great system is only as good as its controller. Daikin Thermostats = FAIL.

What is the max distance from the heat pump to inside of the house. To connect with the boiler?

Hi. I need some help, if possible. The domestic hot water is set automatically on our side to 60 degrees and is disable to change the temperature. What we are missing in order to enable the changing of temperature of the tank like is shown in the video, eg: to be able to set to 55 degrees ? Thanks

Whether for a member of the public or trade, this is too vague, and inadequate. We need to know how it works, how it connects, how its so efficient, and why you would want to hook it up to split systems?!

Sorry, are the dampers inside or outside on the frame? Asking because I don't see them on outside and I get vibration into the house that I really start to dislike, and it is felt especially if you lay down in 1st floor. My 14kW unit is on the ground.

Hi Daikin CoP of heating 5.0 and cooling 8.0? Those are great figures. Using R200 did you say? My GF has just put in 300mm roof insulation on her upstairs flat. Would you put the ASHP "outside unit" in the roofspace above her flat? I'm figuring that's where the warmest air is, and she needs to heat via existing central heating radiators (no underfloor installation plans) that keep the gas system intact. Or are all Daikin units mini-splits?

The software is lacking... I have the Perfera and every time I want to change a setting or turn it on or off it's either a waiting game if I'm using the app or a big fuck every setting I ever made and use the remote to turn it off and leave the home. The hardware itself is good, there is room for improvement, but it's good, it's quiet, does the job, I can't complain about that. The firmware is shit. The remote control firmware is shit. The way the remote communicates with the AC is shit. And the app is the worst thing I've ever seen... It's evil... It was designed by the Devil in order to torment us, sinners.... And when you give up on the app and grab the remote... That's where the fun starts...
